Why do you need to reboot your router?

Since gettting my router a few months back to share my internet connection I've had to reboot the router a number of times to get my connection back up and running when it doesn't want to work.

It happened again today after I turned my PC off for the night for the first time in a long time and switched it on now. Is this a problem that can be fixed or something that just happenes every now and then?

It could be overheating or iffy firmware causing your problems. It could also be the wireless PCI adapter rather than the router causing the problem.
 
Well I haven't changed the firmware and it's freezing in my room so start with uprgrading the firmware?

The other PC was off when I turned mine on today so I'm assuming it has othing to do with the PCI adapter although I have problems where once when I rebooted the router all my settings were lost and I couldn't figure out why the network wasn't working.

I assume so as I haven't upgraded anything. How can I find what version my router is and should I just stick with the Linksys firmware?

If the newer version is still unstable, it might be worth trying some of the free ones. But it'll depend what version your WRT is, since the v5 is lobotomised and you'll need divine intervention for non-Linksys firmware to work.
