Why does everyone go for tower cases?

O I C... I did blatantly copy gord to be honest but it's supposed to be more of a parody of it rather than just ripping it off.

Oh well - can't be arsed to change it though!

They've redesigned BTX exactly to solve this problem with ATX cases. A Tower is simply easier to work in, and more spacious, also it takes up less desk/floor area than a desktop case.

Think mainstream. Think offices with thousands of PCs.
S'all about the value of the land it occupies. Why skyskrapers instead of sprawling estates of houses?

Desk space = money. Bigger the required desk, bigger the required floorspace.
Towers simply take up less square footage in floor / desk space (vertical height is inconsequential).

Mainstream dictates the market - Towers become the mainstream. Tis all just a trend.

However, the same restraints come into consideration for home users - takes up less room in the bedroom... whatever...

End of the day, the non-existant "ideal overclocker" who's after full thermal performance simply doesn't use a case at all. Any case is an airflow restriction. Any airflow restriction decreases performance of anything attached to that case.

Good answer. I like those MountainMods cases though ;)

Aye watercooling a desktop requires patience, only some people daft enough will even attempt it, like me:o What a ball ache is all I can say.

I've gone back to a good old Lian Li PC7+ (tower) with NO watercooling, can't be bothered with it anymore.

the thing to try is take your super dupa tower case and lay it on its side ...now look at the temps and see if this theory has any substance
