Well not everyone :p but everytime im go to read reviews on forums about Vista and how people are getting on, i keeps seeing posts "i have a mac i dont care! or i use linux well better! i mean whats the deal!!

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me!!

I find a fair bit of it is just hate directed generally at Microsoft. Some people just hate huge corporations, no matter what they do.

I don't really hate it. I just don't think it's very good. It's certainly not worth 6 years worth of development.

To me it's a sidegrade at best but then again my needs are not necessarily those of you or most other computer users.

I've seen this a lot today on various nes sites comment areas. Such comments are usually bitter and at best have blatent lies about vista. I love the comments by people who say they are moving to linux when they have never even used the OS before and have no idea how it runs (I don't mind linux, I have a box with slackware on it and use a smoothwall box too).

Well if one person has used an O/S for a while they will say its better, thats just humans for you. :)

And when people say oh thats a load of rubbish, this is so much better, dam i hate that.

It just comes down to personally choice.

And it all depends what you want from something.

it's just lonely idiot fanboys usually. some people will have legitimate reasons for not liking or wanting to use a particular OS, that's up to them.

i've got home premium 64bit up and running tonight and i'm very pleased so far, looks nice and is a pleasure to use. takes a while to get used to something different but i enjoy learning the ins and outs of a new OS.

i still remember people going nuts and slagging XP off, those same people are now singing its praises.

one tip is if you are not that pc literate, not prepared to have issues with drivers or have some games/programmes not work then don't use Vista yet.

Out of curiosity, how long did you use vista for to reach this feeling? I have a mac and run 2 linux boxes and I really do love vista, so i'm not a MS fanboy.

It'll get knocked for a while but then it'll be as popular as most MS OSes have been(except M.E).
It's always the same when MS release a new OS.

On the BBC website they have a poll which is basically asking are you going to install vista, the answers where "yes the wow starts now" or "No what wow?" and almost 80% of the vote was for "No what wow"! just shocked me a bit

I've been running it since Beta 1, so about 6 months now. It's certainly much improved since then though. :)

Its just being stupid IMO.

Everyone most likely said XP is a load of rubbish ill never upgrade.

But in 6 monhhts time, when someone goes into a shop to buy a pc it will come with VISTA preinitialized so really VISTA will take over soon, thats just the way it is.

Read the BBC comments in the vista articles and 80% of them are populated by linux and mac MS haters, so the results are not really supprising :). Seems like vista is threatening enough to both those usergroups for them to post thousands of comments on news sites today for some unknown reason.

Similar to my thoughts. I don't hate and I quite like using it, but the 6 years of development is a joke, it just feels like an XP upgrade - or something that XP should have been to start with.

Yeah i just had a read through them! see what you mean! It hasn't put me off im still gonna give it a go, its the only way to form an opinion. :D

Even on youtube any video about vista is filled with comments saying how **** it is! just annoying! och well!

I wanted to hate Vista but it's grown on me quite a lot.
I would lay odds on that a lot of current Windows XP users who are currently saying 'no' have yet to use it and will eventually change their minds when they do.

I don't see why you'd say that. You could say that about anything that is a result of multiple releases. You could bitch about your car manufacturer not giving you the car you have now 10 years ago, but it'd be pretty pointless because it just wasn't possible.

It couldn't have been done until now. The rendering system is highly demanding and we're only just arriving at a point in computing where the average user has harware technology that can process the visuals you see in Vista. It's quite a stretch from XP in this and other aspects.

It's not the OS to end them all, and you'd be off your trolley to ever have thought Vista was about that. And just in the same way, there's really no point saying it's not perfect. So all the fruitcakes bashing Vista today and tommorow can carry on. People have always bitched on about Microsoft, they always will.

Just know that computing really is in its infancy. Software is poorly written by the best teams and organisation and production is complex - so until the Linux whack-jobs or anyone else bitching on actually serves up something better there's little we can do but get the most from Microsoft.

The rendering system is highly demanding

Something which I don't understand. Perhaps this will be made apparent as the OS matures, but the kind of visual effects present on the desktop could have been done ages ago.

Anyhow, its not all about the rendering system. What else in Vista is worth the huge wait? The kernel improvements?

I have to say I really enjoy using the OS, much more than XP thanks to the gadgets and the visual pleasantries. I just hope they will release something more often, if only for the sake of tinkering with :)

Yea, 6 months to a year down the road everyone will be using or going to use Vista. There are bound to be things that people don't like. Given time it will be a lot more popular.

I think the real issue is that there is no viable alternative. the fact is, everything seems to be tied to Windows, particularly for home users.

People resent the fact that they can't choose.

Joe soap buys a PC and it comes with Windows - the end.

Vista will be a success, not because everyone will go out and buy a Vista DVD, but because it will come shipped with every PC purchased over the next 5 years. No choice for most people.

Its an OK OS - its very pretty and user friendly, but it tries to do too much. You need an OS to manage files and run apps, not to fill your PC full of power hungry carp. Windows is getting worse and worse in that respect.

We loose $$$ and the pure power of our hardware.
