Hey guys, bought an overclocked bundle the other day and in the bios it always says my speed is 4Ghz, however when i use CPU-Z straight after booting it says 4Ghz however after about 1 minute it drops to 2.2 Ghz? Any ideas?

Cheers,

Azure

Power saving, simple as.

CPU isnt being used so it down clocks to save you pennies on your electric bill. Helps prolong the life of the equipment too

As soon as i said that, blue screen!

Really regretting buying an overclocked bundle now.. Had nothing but problems with it so far =/

Send it back, a small number of the OC bundles seem to arrive not completely stable. Easiest solution is just to send it back on the warranty.

Tried to run Prime95... It lasted about 5 seconds before a blue screen arrived... Completely gutted with this =( Even if i send it back i'll have to pay delivery on it again o.0 which isn't going to be cheap.. Maybe i'll just turn off the oc and try myself even though i bought this to not have to try myself ^^

Well considering the premium you paid to have it pre-overclocked I would think it's worth looking around for a cheap courier to return it (should be possible for <£10). But if you do want to try fiddling yourself then there's plenty of guides around to help you out.

Seems like quite a few of these overclocked bundles have these stability issues as I can gather from posts in the forum. The best bet is to send a webnote and not meddle with anything for the time being, OCUK should sort you out!

Another thing you can do is to check the temperatures.

Well i've turned the overclock off and it's obviously stable now =P Meh... They didn't even put any thermal paste on my cpu =( so i had to use the stock cooler for the i7 =P instead of the fenrir o.0

I never got time to check the temps as soon as the Prime95 test started it was a blue screen! =P

Its not running in spec tho, ur best bet is to contact ocuk, dont touch anything else, and just say you loaded fail safe so you could use it.

Which is no word of a lie anyway :)

be aware if u do it yourself the ocuk warranty will be gone

Damned if you do - damned if you don't.... ?

Surely if Overclockers are selling these bundles as a guarrentee Overclock, and your'e constantly blue screening, there should be a solvable Via the OCuk team/phone /webnote etc?.

What power supply do you have? as a 450 watt qteq won't guarrentee anything - apart from BSOD that is!

The bundle operates above manufacturer specifications, as such it requires a quality power supply to operate with guaranteed stability. OcUK recommend a quality brand PSU for use with all our bundles such as the Corsair TX & HX range.

I'd be concerned (myself) that they DONT put thermal paste on?, don't prime test it?

All you need to do is attach the CPU cooler and power it up.

- Maximum Speed
- Maximum Stability
- Maximum Compatibility
- Maximum Overclocking
