My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-GC330UD inside a Lian Li PC-Q07B.

Problems

Shutdown PC from operating system (doesn't matter which). PC switch's back on.

Shutdown PC from powerswitch. PC switch's back on.

I have tried playing around with the power and reset connections on the motherboard but it seems right. Reset bios to defaults, disabled wake on lan etc.

Please help as I intend on using this a home server PC and need to be able to remotely shutdown, but it just switches on again!!!!

Thanks

I've had this issue for two years and there just don't seem to be answers unfortunately.

I figure it's either a faulty motherboard or faulty PSU though since everything else has changed at some point or another.

Have you checked the Power Policies, maybe the Shutdown is behaving as reset.

Shutdown problem are weird.. I have a problem where Standard users shot down although the fans are still active..

Try Run>Command then Shutdown -s -t 00 or 01

Does that work?

I had this ages ago with a prebuilt HP computer from PC world. It turned out to be a fault with the bios on the mobo. I phoned PC World who told me i had to update the bios, after that it worked ok.

If you have a overclocked system write down or save your bios settings some place safe. Then do as has been suggested, update your bios.

If the problem persists after than then you can start to look at the OS settings or hardware as being the root of the problem.

No, no way. Never been heard of. Must have been something else. PC World have never given good advice, its against their non-training policy or something...........:D

Oh beleive me, it wasnt easy, there were tantrums, threats and more before we got to that stage. They asked me:

"Have you ever installed anything on the computer other than what it came with"

&

"Have you ever been on the internet"

When i gave the obvious answer of yes to both, they reckoned that meant it was nothing to do with them, it was a software issue and one of my doing....

I had this problem sometimes with my last computer. Never actually found a fix for it...

Does it switch back on straight away or is there a 2-10 minute delay between you switching it off and it switching itself back on?

Have you tried a different PSU? I've seen computers that reset on the shut down command before and it turned out to be a PSU fault

Right tried different powersupply and memory!

Same thing happens! It switches back on straight away!

Flashed bios 2 latest F3 bios!

Disabled Wol options in bios and also tried bios defaults...

Operating system doesn't matter! Running ubuntu server now with webmin and after doing shutdown through webgui it boot again! Ahhhhhh!

I'm out of ideas?

Any bright ideas?

check the always On after AC (power) loss setting in BIOS power management ACback function should be soft off (default).
Disable PME wakeup event in same menu, default is enabled.
Try changing the softoff by pwr bttn setting.

andy.
