This is just my opinion but would love to hear if anyone agrees with me.

I think one of the main reasons we fail is because all of our players actually play in England. Yes it sounds stupid but if you look at the likes of Brazil, they have players in different countrys, argentina do as well and so do the likes of spain and Italy.

This doesnt allow english players to adapt to different styles of play like they have in Italy and Spain.

Does anyone agree?

Yes, you're right. English players struggle hugely with adapting, never mind new styles of play, they all struggle to even play a different position usually. That is purely down to lack of intelligence/technique/nous though

If that is correct then how do you explain the recent good results for English teams in European football? Surely an inability to adapt to different styles of play would significantly impair them here also?

Because they have foregin players in their team that arent english

E.g Tevez, RVP, Torres any more you want me to list?

Edit. Man U have 2 players that start in their line up
Chelsea have 3
Liverpool have 3
Arsenal have 1 (if he starts on the odd occasion)

and the other remaining 8-10 players are all foreign giving them the abilty to know the english game and be able to know what to expect when we play them

Any of these "English teams" comprised with nearly all English players? If not then :p

If the English players are playing with foreign players regularly in their team then how is that not adapting?

Most of Spain's and all of Italy's players play in their domestic league.

Torres
Fabregas
and they have also had players who have also played in other leagues allowing them to see what their like. we have nothing

Where are italy in this WC? Im pretty sure they finished bottom of their group

It's nothing to do with not playing in other leagues. It's all about their lack of technical ability when they come against top teams, or even decent technical sides.

You have to say it's hugely alarming that Matt Derbyshire and Jermain Pennant (probably a few more) are England's only representatives abroad though, I find it bewildering. I'd be straight out of this league/country if I were a pro, I'd love to experience all leagues/weather/culture/women, our current players are missing that

Torres
Fabregas
And...?

Most = nearly all. Not all. Name me more than one barely-used sub, a misfiring striker, and a reserve goalie in the Spanish team who plays outside of the Spanish leagues.

HINT: There aren't any, because Silva doesn't count.

They were your example!

Also, Germany have managed well with a selection of purely Bundesliga players.

no, the reason is that if we have a good player, we feel compelled to play him.

regardless of form, or regardless of whether he is a duplicate of someone else in the same position.

this is the lampard, gerrard, barry situation. all effectively too similar to each other yet we dont have the cajones to drop one or even two of them because the manager feels he has to play them,

why play rooney when he is completely out of form? even Spain subbed Torres off when he wasnt doing well and they profited from it.

shame on our sponsors if they put the pressure on. but shame on the manager for not being strong enough to pick a BALANCED team not one of players of similar ilk and reputation.

I said in my opinion any ways so why are you starting to argue. Yes you dont agree so you have a different opinion

Why did you post your opinion on an internet forum if you didn't want a debate? It's what these places exist for!

I don't think you can have it both ways - arguing that there aren't enough English players in (the top) English teams and then also saying that the reason England don't do well at international level is because the players don't have the chance to adapt.

It's a discussion forum, unfortunately you can't only open it up to viewpoints that agree with you.
