Why is Amd not announcing anything

No Mantle didnt fail. AMD gave it to the Kronos group and now we have vulkan or what ever that thing is called. Also i would be supprised if we would even have directx 12 in its current state slated for windows 10 at all if it were not for mantle. So i would say that Mantle did what it was set out to do.

Zero work had been done on any new version or revision of DX prior to Mantle being outed. It would be the same status quo if not for it.

Its only a matter of time before AMD are back in the game.

Hopefully. I do sometimes wonder just how many times they can be beaten to the punch by Nvidia and still make enough money to keep afloat.

The last half decent launch they had to themselves was the 7970 and that was ages and ages ago.

I know the 290 and 290x should have sold pretty well. Rubbish cooler aside they were really powerful. But once again, too late.

I think if AMD really pull something out of the bag with this 390x then they have a real good chance, everyone being a bit annoyed about Nvidia's 3.5gb thing..

But who knows!

Logically my next card/s will be this new AMD thing providing it doesn't stink. I really want to get off of Nvidia for a bit as I would never reward them for pulling what they pulled.

So here's hoping in all honesty. I really hope AMD are not all full of hot air again because they've done it a lot in the past.

I mean really, bigging up Bulldozer when they knew it stunk?

Haha, I've never really liked AMD and have only ever had Nvidia (970 and a 550Ti and a few others here and there) My brother had a 7850 and he never ever had a problem with it, so i sold him my 970 after hearing about the 3.5gb and got myself a 290x. I don't think i'd go back tbh.

If this 390x is what they are making it out to be then good bye 290x and i want one of them!!

Haha, one thing i will never do.. Buy an AMD CPU :P

Really? REALLY? I am new to AMD, mostly been Nvidia, I really want to love the R9 295X2 but can't help but feel I have been duped, I paid almost £600 for a card with what seems like has zero support, I think it stinks that a company can sell these cards for the price they do then proceed to provide no drivers for current games and basically render the dual GPU capabilities useless.

My own fault, I should have done my homework but shame on you AMD for not even bothering to announce anything. I cant help but feel they will simply announce the R3xx series and totally ignore the likes of the 295X2

 :D

Yeah Xfires not getting the love at present, so hopefully this 4 month wait is just a one off, and ive never known em to take 4 months between drivers before, and ive been on AMD for eons now.

I'm happy for you. Never buy another card for Crossfire and you'll be happy. In the meantime, us guys are ****ed off :D

I need another drink...

I was tempted, no way in hell now though! It's not long now, what 12 days? I'm sure you'll survive another 2 weeks i mean, its been 3 months already ;)

I have absolutely no complaints about AMD's CPUs. At least they don't have compatibility issues that seem to be dogging their 2 series GPUs (black screens etc). Yeah they're not competitive but they are cheap and you get an awful lot of instructions on the FX 8 for your £100. There are apps you can't even run on the I5 due to the instructions missing..

I see hardly any difference between my FX 8 in gaming over my 3970x.

But yeah what Nvidia did was disgusting, even more so their 'apology'.

I am very excited about the Titan X though. I was annoyed at the Titan but I gotta say, since then they've won me around. Epic GPU and definitely befitting of the arrogant name.

If I were to list every GPU I'd ever had the forum would crash. Seriously I'm not joking, we could be into the thousands.

I just wish companies like 3Dlabs and Voodoo were still around though. Back then you had a choice of several (Matrox, ATI, Nvidia, S3, Voodoo, 3Dlabs, Number Nine etc). The problem is Nvidia are so aggressive. Not price wise, but they seem to be able to brain wash people which is quite sad.

I've always preferred to stick up for the little guy and I've had a few AMD GPUs recently (6970 Lightning, 7970 at launch, 290 to play with) and they were all OK but for me dogged with driver issues.

I must just be super bloody unlucky...

I've owned AMD CPUs and GPUs for years.

My first was my Athlon 700. Legendary CPU, and the 9700 pro stands out.

Face the facts we need a strong AMD. Without it nVidia will bleed us dry with old tech with high margins, because that's what happens without competition.

Yup, AMD CPU's are *so* good even their OcUK Vendor uses 'em :)

Errrrrrrr....... :D

To be honest though, i've never actually used one so i can't really comment, although i am getting one over the new week or so, admittedly an older one but i'm still quite excited.

Yeah the Titan X does look good but very expensive!! if i remember reading right? I sadly, am too young to 'remember' the days of them brands. I do wish there was more competition on the market though.

I've never had any driver problems that people always talk about :/

I'm really unlucky, but when it comes to PC stuff I tend to be doing alright so far!

Saturday night is a bad time for me to post (may of had a drink) but i am really ******* angry, I have spent as much on one component as some folk spend on their entire gaming rig, yes I can afford it but thats not the point, if AMD are going to sell such a product for this price then you'd think they would release regular drivers for it!!!

I am even more ****** off because on my brand new 4K TV I can't select a resolution higher than 1080P

I feel sorry for AMDMatt who is a genuine nice guy who goes out of his way to help folk but I do not envy him having the job of trying to explain this delay.

I have today tried playing Grid Autosport, play's great until microstutter kicks in and ruins it completely, same with Far Cry 4, tried Windows 8.1 and Windows 7, same issues.

I am using the latest Omega drivers, basically a load of ****e!!
