Why is corn on the cob so awesome?

Love corn on the cob, especially if salted and dripping in melted butter! Sadly can't eat it anymore due to my crown :(

Corn on the cob need to be fresh picked because as soon as it's picked the sugars in the kernels start changing to starch. If you picked some yesterday and some today cook and taste test you will taste the difference.

The sooner after picking fresh ripe vegetables and ripe fruit the better they taste.... tomatoes, beans, peas, carrots and lettuce oranges, plums, apples berries.

Flavour-wise loose or on the cob tastes exactly the same to me (assuming both seasoned the same).

Maybe there's just something more instinctly satisfying by eating it caveman/ape style.

Probably a scent thing too from the cob itself which absorbs some of the flavour and juice. Although that doesn't explain it for you :p

Grow your own, one of the super sweet varieties, when ripe get a pan of water boiling, go and pick it off the plant, run back to house and chuck into the water :D

Taste amazing, doubt I'll get any ripe this year though

I have approx 50 husks only a few weeks from being ripe in the garden. You can go better than boiling them, Steam them. OHNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM

Tin foil bag, lots of pepper and rock salt, plus a nice knob of butter. Bake in the oven for however long you like - 30-60 minutes is a rough time line.

Remove and eat.

leave the leafs on and put them on the bbq, this lets them steam, take of the leafs and put back on the bbq for 5 mins, loverly :)
