I'm genuinely interested in this. To me it's always seemed like a generic, arcadey, fps with a substandard story. The multiplayer always seemed a bit like quake 3 arena or unreal tournament. It didn't seem to offer anything new that hadn't been done better on pc.

I've just had a play on halo odst and had the exact same feelings, I just don't get it

I don't mean to offend/start a fanboy war I just want to know why it's classed as 10/10 game? To me it's a 7/10 shooter, with an extremely robust multi player system.

the first one was a classic and the 2nd one for its online.................its a classic series, however the games now are getting boring, HALO ODST, HALO REACH....zzzzzz,play another tune.

I find the best thing about halo is the online, the vehicle battles, etc. Also the Co-op is great aswell. Playing the game single player campaign. I can see that being mediocre. But i feel personally that Halo 3, and the other 360 halo games are more about playing with friends than alone, and they are great fun :)

I didnt used to like Halo 3 to be honest, That's until i discovered it's charm.

legendary Co-Op is what halo 3 is all about

As the above fellows said.

The first one somewhat revolutionized FPS gaming on the PS2/Xbox gen of consoles. It was a great game with nice graphics, great controls and a good storyline!

Halo 2 was a more average story and people played it online, which started off online gaming a bit more for the Xbox.

Halo 3 wasn't really anything special, I actually got bored of it and found it quite disappointing to be honest.

And now its Halo: ODwhatever etc. Its going downhill, although its not terrible by any means for a shooting game.

But when you compare it to the likes of Killzone 2, there is no contest :p

I've always loved it because of the unique story, imaginative weapons and vehicles. Just sucks that the newer games aren't the PC.

this thread has been done many times before. If you don't enjoy it then no-one telling you why it's "good" will change your mind.

Correct. But people pointing out what is to like about it, and what I may have missed will perhaps make me reconsider playing it.

Also what's wrong with trying to understand why it's so highly rated?

I used to think l4d was a shallow shell of a game, until I made a similar thread. And people pointed out that actually it is a shell of a game, the fun comes from tight teamwork. Therefore while the campaigns are fun the first play through the bulk of the game is in versus mode. It is now one of my favourite games.

It's not a 10 or even a 9 out of 10 game but it does offer excellent multiplayer, perhaps second only to COD4 out of FPSs this gen.

My Sig used to be my Live gamertag. By your logic i wouldnt be allowed to make comments about Ps3 games?

If your sig specifically said you played on xbox/pc, it would lead me to presume you haven't played ps3 games fully/properly (outside of demo in a shop/ played for a bit round a mates house) so yes your comments wouldn't really be as well grounded as someone who's fully played the game.

Would I be correct in thinking it was the first game to offer auto health regen when out of combat?

If so then I hate it even more! :)
