Why is steam so BIG!

it well i think its normal remember you download maps and maybe custom sounds for the games there is command to stop downloading sounds cant remember what it is.

well considering you can get 1tb HDD for around 80quid. 30 odd gig doesnt sound like a lot to me. *shrugs*

I right clicked and hit properties on mine and it rocketed up to about 250GB-nearly soiled myself!

Then I realised that I had asked for the properties of Program Files rather than the Steam folder!!!

Pft is that all:

[That pic is a bit out of date now, as i've got Trackmania Nations and Shadowgrounds Survivor installed now, so its prolly closer to 80GB :o

Pic out of date?!? Do you actually keep track of your Steam folder and take a screenshot and make an archive out of it? :D:D

You should keep all your games on a secondary hard drive, whether they are steam or not, then you can reformat or replace your hdd and just auto reinstall them all, 10x faster than downloading or using a dvd.

I only keep installed the games I'm going to play often, so the folder is 30GB. I think it would be two or three times that if everything was installed.
