Why is there still a DVI connector on Nvidia reference cards?

If you look at the current Nvidia line up, they all have DVI connectors on the back of the cards:

Now I'm by no means an expert in cooling, but would binning off that connector and the associated electronics create more room for airflow which would increase the performance of the reference coolers on Nvidia cards?

Who still uses DVI? It's dated now isn't it? Most people are on display port, and if DVI is a must, then there are adapters available.

Thoughts?

All my monitors are DVI only, but, I would love it if they binned off the connector. I could use adapters, and it would mean I can keep single slot GPU's instead of the waterblock making it single slot, and the only thing using the second slot is a damn connector.

Mine are that is such a snobby and arrogant thing to say.

DVI and DP here.
Although I'd use DVI instead of the DP if I had two DVI slots.. Save windows moving all my windows/icons to the other desktop when I turn off the monitor connected to the DP..
