Ok, this is on a fairly old PC running XP.

Why is the HDD running so slowly? I've scanned the machine, no viruses, sector scan turned up no bad sectors... What could be wrong here?

Let me attach this screenshot:

Mines the same model ill check mine tonight as I dont feel its running as fast as it was. Before anyone asks it is on the unaffectd 6gb ports and ive been having doubt over it in my last build.

Tried another cable?

That's a very odd trace. It's not running PIO mode because it's clearly capable of > 10MB/s and the CPU usage is pretty low.

Was there anything else accessing the disk during the benchmark?
Are there any disk errors showing in the Event Viewer?
Do you get a similar trace if you run HDTach

Yeah check for service hogs, and if you can find an ISO benchmarker (I think there's one but I forget the name) to rule out windows' involvement.

My bro's Sammy F1 160Gb runs at about 93mb/s for reference.

will be posting about mine tomorrow thats running on a sata 6 socket and is slow on one test then next test is fine then changes to slow again
