Why isn't Robot Wars on TV anymore?

They should really do a 'revisited' one-off show though - id be curious to know if the house robots still stalk the BBC corridors, or if the likes of Hypnodisc et all been dismantled or moved into lofts etc...

As a sidenote - id love to see whatever robots are left join the big brother house - set to maximum mayhem and given a few new weapons perhaps. Im not saying its morally right (at least not out loud) - just good tv!
 
Damn I used to love watching robot wars.

I can also remember at the time thinking up different designs for my own robot which had something like 10 axes, 12 saw blades and spikes everywhere. Of cure I didn't have the first clue what I was doing but the drawings were cool. :)
 
I remeber razor ripping matilda to pieces. And the first time the infamous rex gerrad did his self righting mechanism with casius was amazing! It got flipped over everyone was like bah fight over! Then he flipped back over. was an oh my gawwd moment
 
Robot Wars was great TV when it started out, but when they killed off the challenges and all the robots just became glorified wedges with SRIMECs and ridiculously weak axes it lost a lot of its appeal.
 
In my view they should have had three levels:

1. Small fighting autonomous bots. Starts at the start of the show, winners are the highest score/last one standing at the end of the show.
2. Robots of the RobotWars size but allow any weapons with a max range of 2 meters (no unteathered projectile weapons). Rounds
3. No-size limit radio controlled Mechs, no limit weaponary. Outside in a disused open cast mine. Three rounds best of three wins match.
 
British TV needs some sort of revival back to what it used to be. This programme, along with The Crystal Maze and TFI Friday should make a definate comeback. TV just aint what it used to be anymore unfortunately.

Nowadays all we have are silly reality shows and soaps, which all seem to have become rather vacuous as of late.
 
Hypnodisc and Razor owned plain and simple! We still have a lot of robot wars stuff here. My son was very much into the program so we bought him all the mini robots, some build-it-yourself midsize robots and an arena. I also picked up a robot wars video that came in a funky steel tin. Ahhhh those were the days :)

British tv is really going down the pan with all these reality shows and nancy carp. Now were being subjected to another mindless load of drivel that is big brother... how can this show keep going? Its so mind numbingly boring watching a group of idiots arguing 24/7. Steering well clear of that lot this year.
 
Battlebots was far better, I can't find it anywhere on Tv or the internet any more though :(:( ( except some on youtube)
