Why not remake old games?

all the great side scrolling shooters like raiden trad , thunder force , salamander, r type you get the gist

golden axe and double dragon maybe if done right

Got hooked on gaming playing DF2, stayed up till all hours playing it made lots of freinds. Still gaming with one of them he's a good buddy(10yrs +) now, would love a updated version.

Thinking about it brings back some great memorys, come to think about it staying up all hours playing BC2 imao some things don't change.

System Shock 2 has lots of updated graphics already, search for system shock rebirth. I've raved about how much I love the game before, so I'll spare you those details, except to say I've now completed it 6-7 times! :O It's not as complicated as it looks, probably one of the easiest RPGs to get started on.

Tie fighter would be top of my list, should be so easy with the x-wing alliance engine or something similar. Can't see cannon fodder working really though. I played it the other day on my Amiga 500, it's still fun now :)

Wasn't the team that was assigned to making SS3 end up producing Dead Space? Seems that SS3 was absorbed into that project, no?

Which is probably as close to a remake of SS2 as we're going to get.

With most games i do not even want to gfx update. Just better colours and higher resolutions and proper widescreen support. Which now more than ever is a big deal

I just installed sim city 4 and it locks up if I click on anything :( :( :(

I want new Win 7 compatible old games.

I were using XP SP3 compatibility, now I'm going to try virtual XP.

I never played FF7, I got FF8 and loved it, played it loads, but never bothered with 7.

For some reason 8 gets a lot of hate, but I thought it was brilliant. 9 is probably my personal favourite tho. Was more difficult, which is good, and a good mix of humour and tragedy. I like the fact that 9 gave me a good few "game over" moments right from the very first boss fight.

Atm I'm playing through 10 again, and it's soooo easy. Annoying, really.

We really need another in the Xwing/Tie Fighter series.

Doesn't need to be a remake particularly. I think XW-Alliance is my favourite of the lot.

I'd go for the X-Com games. Apocalypse would be my preferred choice, though I do have a real fondness for UF0: Enemy unknown.

Or Ultima 6&7. I wasn't old enough to really appreciate these games first time around.

Star Trek Elite Force 1 & 2.

I know they arn't that dated in terms of graphics but remaking them on a new decent engine would be fantastic.

Vapourizing Neelix in 1920x1080 on a 26" monitor is the stuff dreams are made of. :D

Fixed.

Also, can't believe no-one has mentioned the X Wing/Tie Fighter games, surely the series most deserving of a remake?

Most certainly. With modern hardware it'd be Star Wars Geek-o-gasm time

Virtual XP doesnt support Direct 3D or Direct Draw.

The Sim City 4 problem in Win 7 is caused by Direct Draw :(

Need a new Sim City game.

I'd love the original C&C games to be remade, iron the bugs out, keep the graphics largely the same, just higher res, and keep all the sounds the same

"I've got a present for ya.." "That was left handed"
