Doesn't ANY discussion involving PCs automatically include MAC baiting?now now this about PC digital distribution not Mac baiting !
I had to install Uplay to play FarCry 3 Blood Dragon - hadn't realised that before I bought it.
Download speeds were terrible, inconsistent and the client frequently crashed, or threw up error messages. After a bit it did settle down and become stable, but it was still plug-ugly, and completely unnecessary.
I've been completely put off purchasing FarCry 3 because it needs Uplay, and it's been uninstalled from my PC and isn't going back on, so hopefully I may play it one day if they drop their rubbish client.
I find it amusing that people hold Steam up as something to try and emulate. People were going absolutely nuts when HL2 came out and you HAD to install steam. Back then and really only until a couple of years ago Steam was also a pile of crap. Constant disconnections, unable to connect, lost communication with with the steam servers etc. Some of those still happen. If you compare Origin and Steam at at the same timescales from Launch I have to say Origin is a lot better than Steam was.
Both are poor Steam is also becoming just the same as Xbox Live & once Valve start selling movies the forced ads will come as wellI guess the PC gaming £££ was not enough for Valve was it

it's inevitable that both Origin + Uplay will become superior at some point.
