Why should I buy a gaming mouse?

I just got a G7 to replace my old mx1000 and quite frankly it's great oh and even better I managed to get the black/graphite one rather than that nasty looking gren and silver thing :)

2nd that, awsome mouse, got mine for £50 and i'd easily buy another

I'll third that.

I used to be fairly flippant about premium mice - found a G7 going for £40-ish when I had a bit of spare cash, and the difference is immense.

I'm naturally left handed, but ambidextrous when it comes to mice - if I wasn't I wouldn't be using a G7.

For gaming, drawing/image editing and general desktop use I've noticed a big difference, plus the fact that it seems to work on any surface I've tried it on, be it glossy, matt, carpet, computer screen or my face. (Not a frequent user of the latter surfaces :p)

It'd be nice if it had a longer battery life than a day, though the battery is hot swappable fairly quickly. :)

What Razer you got melbourne?

gt

Hi gt

I have Razer Diamondback Plasma Blue

RZ-1600P-B.jpg

+'s
Incredible sensitivity.
Lots of buttons.
Feature-packed software.
It's blue.

-'s
It seems difficult to turn the sensitivity down much.
The buttons on the side of the unit are incredibly small.
It's quite low for a mouse.

Conclusion
It has served me well, but I sometimes yearn for the simple side buttons of my intellimouse explorer.

Would the MX518 be more up my street? Are the side buttons less fiddly? (My major gripe with the razer)

Am I going crazy? I looked at this post about 3minutes ago and the mouse was facing a different way you just posted Melbourne? Anyway, I think the MX518 is quite similar to the G5 in appearance, it was the nice price-tage that drew me to it. I have used a friends before and it sits in the hand really nicely. I think I will go ahead and order one soon.

Just messing with your head :D

I wasn't sure if the website address that was across the original image would have attracted the attention of a Don, and so changed it to avoid the ban-hammer :D

I know what you mean. The buttons on the side are far too fiddly so i tend to turn them off. The copperhead i had before was easier to use as the side buttons were basically impossible to get to let alone accidentally knock! :p

Out of every mouse i've owned the diamondback (mine is red) has been my favourite mouse and is definately an improvement on the copperhead i had before. If i had the money i'd buy a deathadder though. It is ergonomically excellent, has well placed buttons and packs a serious level of performance!

I've not used the logitech but i'm sure it is an excellent mouse so that would probably be your best upgrade route - especially looking at all these positive comments (plus it'll have useable side buttons!).

Thanks GT, I agree entirely - I'll give the MX518 some serious thought.

Might even bring the Razer to work, better than the piece of **** my work PC uses!

I have the MX510, excellent mouse however I have heard very good things about the deathadder and it does look very good.

I have tiny hands and am left handed and yet i still MUCH prefer Logitech :p.
