Why should I get a Dreamcast?

Trouble is controller port 1 on my xbox failed and most homebrew only works with the first slot unfortunatley.

I've traced the fault to the mobo itself. Seems little I can do to fix it without replacement.
 
The Dreamcast is probably the best console of the last 20 years. The games themselves are so varied and special, in my opinion. You had games like Powerstone, alongside specialized FPS games like Outrigger and some awesome RPGs like Skies of Arcadia. The Dreamcast also showed online RPGs to the masses, with Phantasy Star Online.

It was an awesome console, and broke many a new ground.

Power Stone is a great 2 player game. Power Stone>Power Stone 2. I'd also advise you get House Of The Dead 2 w/gun as it's ace.
 
I remember MSR, Power Stone, Resi Evil and Soul Calibur as being the best Dreamcast games. Crazy Taxi was ok but got boring quickly.

Terrible controller though, that thumbstick with the little nodules that rubbed your thumbprint off :eek:
 
rez was great in single player

however, 4 player games are where it's at:

virtua tennis, 1 and 2002,
bomberman online
san francisco rush 2049
powerstone 2
tetris 4d....

anyone know any other 4 player games, as post-pub 4 player gaming is great fun. :D

The low prices at which the console and games can be had is another reason. The visual memory unit is a laugh. A few decent controllers or weird games (Seaman comes to mind...) Good homebrew community. Nice looking small console.

All reasons to buy! Only reason not to is the noise when it's on, damn that fan!
 
Grandia 2 is one of my all time favourite games, but it's available on the PS2 so you might have played it already. It looks better on the DC though.
Chu Chu Rocket is another classic that hasn't been mentioned.

If you can find it Samba De Amigo, though it might be quite pricey.
But you get to act like bez from the happy mondays :)
