Why should we accept and accommodate people being fat?

yes it does, and makes a few billion profit every year.

interestingly once smoking is completely gone or banned we're going to have to make up about an extra 5-6 billion pounds more every year through general taxation, probably stick it on petrol.

No convinced by this, we can reduce the amounts we pay in benefits, between alcohol and tabacco duty its a fair way to regain some the benefits we're paying them in the first place.

Sorry to dispel a Western Myth but the Taliban when in control of Afghanistan reduced the Opium production down to less than 10% I think it was but as soon as the Yanks took over Afghanistan the production rose to over 80% & they are now the biggest suppliers of opium in the World.
The Taliban did more to fight Global Addiction than all the Western countrys did/do put together. :p

Yes, the Taleban are anti-drugs. That's why they would be upset if we supported/encouraged Afghan opium farmers by buying their finest wares for our addicts.

Ive put on 2 stone on since my gf moved in. I think its down to hating throwing food away for some reason i feel that i have to finish her left overs rather than throwing them away, feels like such a waste to me. Then again, maybe im a dog lol

I love it when people say it's down to genetics, I doubt you ever got a fat cave man.

I do think make genetics can make a big difference to some people. However this is no excuse to be overweight. Coming from somebody who was overweight till two years ago, the main problem is people are too lazy, simply as that.

This is something that recently has really been grinding my gears.

I watched a program showing fatties who were really uncomfortable on planes due to their size, then moaning about the plane companies not doing anything to accommodate them. It infuriated me that they genuinely thought the entire world should revolve around them and their gravitational pull.

As someone who until 2011 was ridiculously overweight it annoys me that they have this attitude "well plane companies should put wider seats in for overweight people" - or they could stop shovelling pies in their mouth?

Instead of wanting the world to work around me I (like said above) stopped being lazy and did something about it. My quality of life is infinitely better now and I will never go back to being this way again.

Sorry for the rant first thing, but as you can see this is something that really bothers me :p

Another thing that annoys me is when people get free services from the NHS because of their weight, like gastric band surgery for example. I personally know someone who claimed to need it and "couldn't lose weight" etc but when it came to her getting the operation she had to lose 4 stone before they would go near her with anaesthetic, she managed that alright, funnily enough.

Id love to se a change where if the need for a procedure is 100% your own fault, IE you have gotten yourself really overweight etc that before performing it a payment plan should be setup, it might be a way of teaching the people a lesson and a reminder not to be so lazy and take everything for granted as much as they do.

Never obviously, because that's completely absurd.

Well not really.

I've spent from the age of 5 kickboxing, mountain biking and playing football on a regular basis, the injuries I sustained from those over the years are far too much to list here.

But I've had 4 pretty major operations as a direct result all off which had to be diagnosed, treated and operated upon with physiotherapy applied in 3 out of the 4.

I've also got some complications beginning to arise in the last few months so there is a possibility further treatment is about to kick in.

What gives me the right to have access to those services over someone that chooses not to exercise? I chose to do those 3 activities and my injuries were as self inflicted as someone who has complications arising from choosing to do nothing.

I can see your point, but you'd rather have everyone sat inside, wrapped in cotton wool getting fat?
