Can anyone tell me why the PowerColor ATI Radeon X800 GTO 256MB GDDR3 is soo cheap at £59. Seems to have the same specs as most of the other X800 GTO 256 cards that are all priced at £100+

all the GTOs have 12 pixel pipelines. they actually have one of the best performance/price ratios in the market!!
its possibly the same card but different brand, like in supermarkets. asda cornflakes are cheaper than kellogs'

Do you know anything about these being unlocked Gibbo, something tells me it might as it uses the same core as the GTO16 but then something tells me it wont as it wont have enough power due to no additional plug.

I've bought one, at that price you HAVE to buy it, I was contemplating a 7600GT as the price dif wasnt that much from around £100 but with the money you save I'm going to get another gig of ram. Thanks Gibbo for the cracking deal :)

EDIT

I'll post up what it is core wise when I get it tomorrow, have a feeling its R430 but who knows...

There should be a good chance of modding it as it shares the same core as the Powercolour GTO16 which obviously has 16 pipes, who's gonna be first to flash theres with a GTO16 bios? :D .

I think GTO16s are R480 (x850) cores, whilst the normal GTOs are R430 (x800xl) cores. Correct me if I'm wrong :)

but r430 cores are 16 pipeline anyway, or most of them are, so i doubt it lol. isn't it the r423's that are 12 pipline parts?

By most reviews if its r430 core it wont overclock too well, but may mod, there is a good guide going round on how to check if it will or not at tweakforums or wherever. For the money Im not too bothered if it doesnt but it would be nice if it does.

You would notice a massive difference goin from a 9500 pro anyway :)

Tell me about it :p

This things been good for the past 2ish years, but all things come to an end, the good thing about the Asrock board is that I could use it til a good deal like this came along on PCIE.
