The word(?) 'PC' has two different meanings, one is personal computer, the other is talking about the 'IBM Compatible PC' which for many years now has just been known as a PC. It's quite obvious which meaning is being referred to in this thread.
The term 'IBM PC compatible' is not commonly used for current computers because all the mainstream computers are based on the PC architecture. One notable exception was Apple Macintosh computers, which used the PowerPC architecture until 2006, when Apple adopted the Intel x86 architecture as used in the PC.
A personal computer may be a desktop computer, a laptop, tablet PC or a handheld PC (also called palmtop).
No, they're computers made by Apple.
Don't think so. If you're going to say something like this at least commit to it and provide a source.![]()
I shall show my mac ignorance again here........ Why isnt the operating system available to buy to load onto a pc ?

Why sell the operating system at £X when you can make people buy it as part of your computers for £XX ?

because that is part of how they get away with charging a premium for their hardware - some people like OSX and are prepared to pay a few hundred quid more for it...
That was predictable.
The opposite is true, that Apple are shooting themselves in the foot by not licensing it. They lose far more money by not having it available for 'PCs'.
The fact is they take the risk on their products being good enough that people will buy them on merit over a Windows unit.
