Why the Virtual-Reality Hype is About to Come Crashing Down

Can you both please stop talking?
Not a problem. I am happy to walk away now that andybird123 has done what I wanted and proven how dishonest he is. All andybird123 excuses for lying have fallen flat and now there is a long list of demonstrably true lies from him there is no reason for me to hang around.

Fight fight fight!!
Sorry to disappoint you but this is over. Now that andybird123 has proven what I said about him is true I don't currently plan on any more back and forth between me and andybird123. We can all get back on topic now.

Some interesting changes in the numbers now that Steam Junes data is in, although only rough estimates. According to the survey chart we have gone from 84.8% Rift down to 34% Rift in market share on Steam. Vive is now up to 78k units or around 100k with development units which suggests Rift is closer to 50k with Rift+DK units for Steam VR users. Personally I think rift is higher as a reasonable amount won’t be using Steam.

The writers of the article came to the same conclusion as us here, quote “actual totals for both the Rift and Vive likely higher than these rough estimates, they do highlight just how over-excited a lot of industry researchers may have gotten about the potential of virtual reality.”

Oculus vs VIVE is a necessary battle that only one win will imo. Each console will have its VR device by 2018 and PC games will need to be either fully open to multiple headsets, or one headset to rule the PC roost.

I have no factual evidence to back this up.

But it makes sence right?

Its like Oculus saying Keyboard and Mouse is only allowed with their games right? Aint gonna happen.
