Attach rates would tend to say different, as the Wii is also selling more games per console than either of the others. The key point you're possibly missing is that the Wii has a much larger target audience. The stereotypical hardcore gamer may not like the wii that much, but the casual gamer loves it, and there's a lot more casual gamers than hardcore ones.
Oh, and we have a Wii as our only console, so you can add that to the list. Any other games we want to play get played on the PC anyway.
the 360 is already the winner of this gen, perhaps not by sales but by the fact that microsoft is in a far better position in the console market, their user base has grown exponentially and that will have an effect on the following generation. they've done their job, they've proven that they can make a good, solid console and can support it well (and acknowledge their faults and take steps to fix them), the games are good, and there is a great selection, live, although it costs IS the best online console service in place and they've done their job at securing additional content for new games (looks at GTA IV).

hmmm, i don't know many hardcore gamers, but all the casual gamers (i know) are quickly bored to death by the wii, perhaps it sells more games because they are cheaper, or because they are quite rubbish so you buy the next one in vain hope of it being better (okay, all the first party ones are quite good)
i used to have quite a decent spec PC, far better then most of the mainstream population would have, games for PC are going down hill, they're losing replayabilty and are, more and more, just becomming terrible ports of console games. i traded my PC for a laptop and a (second) 360 and haven't looked back.
so you do agree your wii is only as an attachment to something else, in this case your PC

...taken a big slice of Sony's pie they had with the PS2 v Xbox war.
I think he wanted to give us a laugh at the comments and not bait.![]()
Well it is getting a bit silly in here at the moment.....
Sounds like you're overanalysing to try and get the result you want. The bottom line is that wii hardware and software sales are hugely ahead of the other two. The reasons why aren't that important.
My only hope is that MS and Sony don't see how successful Nintendo have been and go down the Wii route, it's a great toy but it's not a games console that appeals to me.
How many people who bought a Wii, would buy another console like it? My guess is many people bought it to try as it was something 'new', realised it wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and won't make the same mistake in future. I think conventional consoles like PS3/360 are here to stay.
i haven't really looked at the suggested sales figures in a while, but after having a gander and nexgenwars there really isn't much between the 360 and the wii, whereas the PS3 is lagging way in the rear
Dont ever look at next gen wars for console sales lol! Wait till next week when Sony announce their sales figures for the last year/quarter, both MS and Nintendo had theres a few weeks ago so then we will have a far better idea of sales to store (no one tracks 100% to consumers). VGchartz is with 5-10% normally so there a pretty good estimate, but even NPD has a good deal off guesswork involved, so its best to stick with the company stats instead.
The Wii hardware is selling insanely well, but 90% of the games on that thing are pure shovelware,
