Poll: Why this forum doesn't have an option for a custom avatar made by a user ?

Let's be honest, having customised avatars would just make this place look like it was full of adolescent dickheads. Why distract attention and spoil a clean look.

As for like buttons, just another waste of real estate, achieving absolutely nothing apart from more clutter. If you can't say it in words then move on.

A better mobile view is something that keeps coming up and will possibly drag the forum into the 21st century. This should be reviewed.

Keep the originals- cleaner and more professional look.

They should keep the forum how it is, I mean who doesn't enjoy having to constantly adjust their zoom whenever they want to navigate.

These new fangled forums that display nicely on mobile devices are completely unnecessary.

Also why should a website dedicated to selling the latest hardware have a forum that's made in the last decade?

What I would like is custom avatars.. There would be some good ones

I can see more Posts per screen on this forum than any other

I'm against the idea. Gifts and animated avatars etc will make the site look too much like Facebook.

Maybe we could adorn the forums with little flowers to brighten the place up. Perhaps a tiger lily in the top left corner just to add a bit of floral adornment. Also put bullet holes in every ones sig. After all, we are gangstas.

How the bloody hell does a poster with 5 posts get a poll added yet I've been here since the stone age and never had one?
I know I've never asked for one but that's no excuse.
I'm now trying to think what I can have a poll on.

I agree with many before, I love these forums because they avoid most of that rubbish, it's a nightmare to read through and why I like these forums so much.

New avatars would be a good idea, but I wouldn't say personal ones. Just an update similar style pictures but different theme. Like what was suggested when Alan rickman died.
Just has a bit more class to it, yes these forums often lack any form of class and Dacorum but it certainly wouldn't be a bad thing

This forum is powered by vBulletin which permits such things as uploading photo's from your personal files etc

Because of bandwidth costs / other sites hotlinking etc.

I'd go further, much further....

I might add a poll to see how many people want tapatalk with the two options being yes and yes

/ban for even mentioning that abomination

To be honest one of the reasons I've been here so long is the forums haven't joined the Web 3.0 gimmicky can't turn off mobile view use this app rubbish.

+1, no real issue here with using the forums on a mobile device (* although the thread tools popup often appears in random places)

Sooner have the full site, rather than the dumbed down forced mobile layouts that most sites offer.

It is a pain to use the forum on a phone though. The full site works great on a tablet, but I think a mobile site for phones could be good

Ok, so months ago there was some talk of a forum software update that 'might' be happening and there were discussions between some mods and heads at the shop about it. What's happening in that score? I don't mind not having a custom avatar but the software is over a decade old and there are some major improvements that could be made.

I can't think of any improvements really, security wise all vbulletin releases cover legacy versions there are always zero day exploits but there is nothing you can do about them proactively.

All the newer releases of VB just add tat, the only issue we had was the creaking servers which have been replaced and as far as I'm aware everything is running lovely jubbly

However, please let us know if we are missing anything obvious

I was just wondering why does this forum has it's own "pre-sets" of avatars rather than allowing users to upload their own ? I know that besides a space of uploaded avatar/saved space there's not much benefit of it in my opinion. What's your opinion on it guys ?

Because your ~!anime!~ avatar shouldn't stop me from actually reading your posts and then roundly denouncing them for being so utterly awful. I don't want to be forewarned, I want to go in fresh, feel the horror creep up upon me, think, check, pounce.

And by 'you' I mean 90% of GD.

The other 10% of posters who demand custom avatars should probably get them because that's all they'll have in life.
