Wierd GTA 5 performance issues

Good idea but alas the specific profile is set to "use global settings" and global settings is set to "use application"
And application is set to off.

The more I read about this, the more I am seeing that the game purposely has some kind of mechanism not to stress the GPU unless necessary and tries to keep the game between a 40-70fps band...

Doesnt do that for me when I tried. Turn vsync off completely and install the Nvidia driver & physx driver only. Not the game optimization junk

Is urs set to highest?

Also is windows set to your monitors refresh rate setting properly.

Right click desktop, display settings/advanced display setting/display adaptor settings for device/click monitor tab at top/ should say what refresh rate is ur monitors is at, if you have 144hz it should be set there as that if not switch it to the right one.

Btw dont worry about low cpu usage you wont get it that high as if it does all it needs to at 50% usage and fps are ok then its fine. I mean on this vid his cpu like urs doesnt go more than about 60% usage at 4k. His gpu at 99% is his limiting factor not cpu.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7MvCKUb44w&t=385s

And yeah if you have advanced gfx settings in gta v on id turn em off, there just gona kill ur game even with 2080ti i think. I dont know many that ever have em on.

Besides your cpu usage will rise the heavier the action like 3-5 star action. Use afterburner or something to monitor cpu usage as you cause mayhem.

I mean get put the 1070 GPU back in and try it on the 445.87 Nvidia driver.

That said, something in definately not right. It just looks like the 2080Ti is being limited to 60fps with Vsync. Unless its jsut coincident that all fps average is 60... are you sure vsync is not enabled in on the 2080Ti driver or in a game profile or something?

My results with a 1080Ti, all setting and resolution are the same though driver and system is slightly different. I would expect your 2080Ti to hit ~140-180fps in the average frames

It must be reducing to save power. Is 'Prefer maximum performance' switched on it Nvidia CPL under Power management mode?
You should be averaging 140 - 180fps really. ~40% increase over my 1080Ti

I know tell me about it Guest!
I just stuck on Prefer Max Performance as you instructed and it has helped by 15-20fps...
But like you said I should be well above your results... just doesnt make any sense!

Hmm i thought i mentioned using prefer max performance in nvidia panel awhile ago. Ah well.

Is windows using balanced or performance for power management?

You did Skeet, sorry I didnt ignore you, I did actually turn this on but I think when I did a DDU all my settings dissapeared....

Im on high performance on power management...

Actually Skeet, I just restored defaults on my high performance as well....
Getting there but Im still under Guests 1080TI performance where I should be well above it!
Anything else I should consider?

Only bench or play at ur monitors res not under it, whats it actually like playing the game? Smooth, avg fps? If its ok then just enjoy it tbh. Might be one of them games that just is iffy on certain configs i dunno.

If your benching it at guests res then the results will be showing cpu results mainly i think. So if you both had same cpu then could be one of you has it oc and the others hasnt or not as much.

Btw hyperthreading is working i presume and not turned off in bios perhaps?

Guest - what is you rig clocked at?

Maybe the 8GB RAM is the limiting factor? My CPU is also at 4.5GHZ even though it only shows 4

"Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz (8 CPUs), ~4.0GHz"

Check yours for things like PCIe bus...

If that was ur native res sorta 4k ultra wide then thats not bad results, just dont use aa and keep reflection aa to 2x and u might squeeze a little more out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvExyeZ_AHs vid u might wana watch. Thats with everything maxed (over kill tbh due to the high aa used)
