Wife's car stolen from our driveway overnight

Seems very odd that a 11 year old Fiesta is stolen. The risk for reward is not very good odds. Maybe stolen for joyriding?

Someone at my old workplace had the driver's door stolen off their car ( I think Cavalier ) in the middle of a bright Friday afternoon in a busy work car park with security guards etc.

Reminds me of when I owned an old Cavalier many years ago and was pulled over by the police whilst driving home from a gig late one night.

"Anything wrong officer?"

"No, we just wanted to check whether this is your vehicle sir. More Cavaliers are stolen than any other model and get used for ram raids and other crimes. If we see one on the road this time of night, chances are it's being driven by someone who didn't want to pay for a taxi home and is going to dump it later."

I had heard, and I don't know for certain if this is true, there's a flaw in Fords alarm where is the small quarterlight is smash on the front window someone can reach in and gain access to the OBD port without the alarm going off. I had heard this when I bought my Fiesta some years ago and I added a bit of angled metal over the OBD. I just remove it every year when it goes in for a service. No idea if that'd actually stop a scumbag but for the hassle of removing it then putting it back in, I usually smash my knuckles several times, I'd rather have it in place than not have it.

When I bought the Fiesta the salesman was pushing me to get keyless entry but that there was no way I wanted that. I have opposable thumbs that work.

When I had my Fiesta ST I bought an extension and moved it under the seat, then put a dummy one in it's place. Though I think it has it's own fuse, so you can just pull that out.
