Bit of a rant here really , Her first go in the acoord type R , she was driving taking her sister home and we drove past a speed camera, the wife is VERY careful with speed and went past a camera in a 30mph zone doing 30-30.5mph and she got flashed , I thought there was a small cusion on the settings on these things

Rant over

Regards Skywalker

doubt it would have gone off at that speed and if it has they can check how far the car has gone, request the photographs odds are she was doing 35

Sounds to me like it flashed someone else or your speedo is a bit wonky :( Might be worth checking it with a GPS if you have one, just in case.

I was sitting next to her looking at the speedo cause her first time driving it and both of us knowing the camera was there and she was doing no more than 30.5mph

I guess the only thing you can do is wait until you get anything through, if you do.

PS: hows the ATR running? I was supposed to be viewing a couple this weekend, but had to cancel. All I need to do is sell my car (which is proving difficult) and I should hopefully be the proud owner of an ATR.

It'll be a mistake, if the speedos reading that, shes probably doing less than 30.

You probably won't hear anything more, but if you do, ask for the photos to be checked.

Could have been faulty, I've seen some camera's flash at random intervals. Or as said, could have been someone else that set it off.

When people say the law doesn't have a leg to stand on if letters arrive after 14 days...is there any website or something that can back this statement up?

It's always interested me.

Thanks.

I've still not heard anything from being flashed 17th December, had my fingers crossed every day since when checking the post:o

I heard you can still recieve a NIP upto a few months, which isn't that near the rumoured 14 days.

I've had cameras flash loads of times if I brake at the last minute for them, but nothing ever comes in the post. Was this what happened?

Steady speed , no breaking involved as we both drive past there at least 3 times a week

As long as you aren't a company car driver they only have 14days to get the NIP to you.

If you are then they are allowed 'reasonable time' to track you down.

Must be DATED within 14 days of the indicated offence. If the Post Office mess it up and lose the letter, they can just reissue another one and it will still be valid.

EDIT: are you sure this thread wasn't just an excuse to tell everyone you have a Type R? ;)

Was it a Gatso? Was there another car travelling in the other direction? If there was a car going the other way speeding it could have set it off.

Dont forget that because of the fact the needle isn't flush with the dial face, if you glance at the speedo sideways, ie from the passenger seat, it'll show a different, normally lower speed, than if you look at it straight on from the drivers seat.
