How much?

A glorious £1432 all in. Full service, aircon service & regas, 2 new front tyres, new turbo and all 4 injector seals redone. And a car for 5 days.

Turbo alone was £600+

Car is at about 70,000 miles.

Did they change the turbo oil feed pipe and valve? most tubo supplies wont cover the new turbo without those items as blocked oil feed is a known issue on those engines, 1.4 and 1.6.

oh dear, got a funny feeling youve been 'done'

I've had about 3 diesel fiestas come in with power issues. All 3 of them were just the injector seals, they coke up and harden leading to them not sealing thus lack of power, enough that it feels that there isnt a turbo strapped to the engine!

I VERY much doubt you needed that turbo :(

It's possible I suppose. But I do trust the garage and the seals were done first. Then they put on a new EGR as it was apparently still not right which they said didn't make any difference so they took it off without charge of course. Then they said the turbo was seized and replaced that.

Having just taken it out for a very quick spin it is running great again and having a look under the bonnet it certainly appears to be a new part so it has at least been changed.

At the end of the day I didn't know what the problem was, the turbo was the very first suggestion on here, and I've used the garage 5 times before and they have been very very helpful every time.

I'll keep using them but thanks for your concern :)

Both problems, turbo and seals are very common on those engines, although diagnosis is very easy as the seals leave obvious carbon deposits and the turbo is stunningly simple to access.
