Wii: COD3

I've seen the price, I've seen what the launch games are, I've seen what the graphics are like. That's enough to put me off for now :)

Never played a Nintendo game then ;)

We were going to get a second Gamecube in the house, and with old skool emulation inc in the Wii, I can knock £50 off the price of the Wii for convenience alone.
£180 with a game over xmas is good value for our family, I'm pretty sure I'll have 2 by the end of its life then pack away the Gamecube, SNES and 64, which are all easier for the kids to leave unattended with than the Xbox360.

Hmm the Xbox had Halo, PGR, Rallisport Challenge and DOA3 on release...
Exactly why we didnt get one, none of those games appealed to my kids, I spent my Xbox money on upgrading the PC, bought a decent sterring wheel, PC/Gamecube/Dreamcast served us well.

IGN Review: http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/746/746145p1.html

Call of Duty 3 for Wii is a bit of a mixed bag. For starters, the game’s control is pretty solid, and while there are a few issues with the battle actions, the pin-point aiming and Call of Duty driving feels great, adding a ton of immersion in to the game. If the gameplay isn’t your primary focus for FPS games though, Call of Duty 3 may be a bit of a downer, as there’s no multiplayer, and the visuals are pretty weak. If you’re expecting anything more than a solid single player adventure and GCN/Xbox graphics, you may be disappointed. Still, Call of Duty 3’s control is definitely something to experience, and seems to be second only to Metroid. If you’re looking to try the FPS genre on Wii during launch, Call of Duty 3 is the game to show the system off.

Thats not a bad first effort for a Wii FPS, looks the like controls are almost there.
Their main gripe seemed to be resolution  and online gameplay, I think a lot of new gamers could pick up an FPS now, but no doubt it will get the same kind of slating the DS got graphics wise when the PSP was anounced.
I got bored of WW shooters half way through COD1 on an old Radeon 9600, so might give this a go for the hell of using the new controller, Ive really struggled with a pad in first person shooters.

As they said in the review, the graphics and lack of multiplayer was a disappointment. I think it's the fact that they know more can be done with the Wii, but it hasn't materialised yet. Seems as though a race to launch cost the game a better score. Still, I'd love a play on it as a potential game to get alongside - what else - Zelda. :)

Hmm, I have the 360 version here now and don't really want 2 copies of the same game :(

You think red steel will be a good substitute?

Red Steel would be a good substitute yeah.

Wrong forum I know, but I'm definately getting the Wii version but not the 360 version. Wait till after xmas for swapsies if you want ;)
