Wii controller lag?

I've read in various places that the Wii controller suffers from lag, I realise that there are a few threads dotted about that mention this, however there are no threads that are specific to this possible problem.

I've been looking forward to a Wii for a while now and have the cash sitting in my pocket just waiting until I can pick one up off the shelf.

Having read a little about the lag I'm now concerned that the Wii may not be the console I'm after, I understand that it would be great fun with the family but the majority of my gaming still happens after they are all in bed :)

My questions are:

Does this lag really exist?

How bad is this lag?

Does it happen in all games?

Can Wii Zelda be played with a normal GC controller if it gets on my nerves?

Is this lag likely to be cured with an update from Nintendo?

I personally haven't noticed any lag during games (yet). Zelda works very well with the controllers, I was worried that it would be quite fiddly but nintendo have done an excellent job with the controls. I started red steel last night and am finding it hard to control, I believe it's just me getting used to the controls still though rather than lag or unfunctional controls.

I can't say I've noticed any lag either, been playing Zelda, Red Steel, COD3, Wii Play and Wii sports. I've not felt any lag on any of those games and they all felt very responsive. Although as surfsquid said the controls are a bit weird to get used to on red steel first of all but once you do it's a pretty good game.

I would say opposite to these guys the remote does have a slight lag delay its not like a mouse, it feels slightly laggy.

On the wii menu its fine, but I notice in zelda when youmove the wiimote around it does tend to be a bit slow, but not sure if thats lagg or what.

It's not instant, there is a very tiny amount of lag as to be expected. I can 99% guarantee that you won't even notice it. If you do, I very much doubt it will bother you in the slightest.

I have to say that to be honest its much more responsive than I ever imagined it would be. Playing baseball for the first time amazed me, as the batter followed my exact movements.

I can't say I've noticed the pointer to be slow or laggy at all. But I'm sure some people are more aware of things like that than me.

I've noticed the lag but its not there all the time. Seems worse in zelda but only noticed it a couple of times in wiisports - and I've played that a lot.

I have been playing Wii Sports for 2 days and I don't see any lag.

It's the postural that has to be correct though. One time, I was playing not well and my girlfriend pointed it out that I was using wrong postural compared to other time and I played better after that!

I guess I was tired! :p

Wii Sports, Wii Play and the Wii Menu I have noticed no lag what so ever, in Zelda however I notice the odd bit. Mainly when you aim at something with the bow and arrow/claw show/sling shot, sometimes it will tell me to aim my Wiimote at the screen even though I already am, a second later and its fine. Other than that its lag free

there is lag, but its mostly minimal and seems to happen at the strangest of times, ie: on the menus in zelda. The important question is will it bother you?

the answer to to go buy one. Or, more sensibly, go and play on a demo console.

I can't say I noticed any lag, maybe setup the sensitivity in the settings a bit or maybe the sensor bar and controller is having something interepting the signal in between a bit.

There is definitely lag on the controllers especially if you are used to a mouse like an MX510 or similar. It's one of the reasons i won't be getting a Wii until they are about £50 each. Just like i did with the GC :) It bothers some people a lot, like me, and it doesn't bothers others at all. Best idea would be to try out a demo console somewhere or even better a friends, demo consoles can sometimes be misleading.

Sounds exactly like me , even down to the same mouse. Non of my mates have them so it's a tricky one.

Does altering the sensitivity make a difference? if this is possible?

There is lag especially in the boxing.
It is far less noticeable in games where the controller is not being moved constantly.

That's the mosue I use, along with a 'corepad' gaming mousemat and 'slider' pads. I can honestly say I am normally good at picking these things up but its barely noticeable on the Wii at all. It's VERY different to a mouse though so is not really a true comparison.
