Wii motion Plus

I'm going to make a complete stab in the dark, and guess the additional controller part will probably retail for about £15 - same as the numchuk, and the classic pad, and that some of the games won't need the numchuk in addition to it.

I wouldn't be too surprised if some of the early games that make use of the new controller addon come with it as part of a bundle.

I see this coming the same way the N64 expansion pack did i.e. with a game and available separately as well

Why dont they try sourcing cheaper components and manufacturing processes at the same time?

They opted for the cheaper ATi GPU and less internal storage, tried to make gaming fun for everyone AND got slated for it. They can't win really can they.

I doubt it I own a Wii and a Xbox 360 and the Wii is nowhere in the same league
Its like comparing a PS2 and a PS3.

Luckily you're not the mass market that all 3 companies need to tap into, Im guessing 13-25 age group western male? Nintendo go for all ages, cultures, tastes.

they can and probably have, but the consumer wont. as much as my wii is a great little box of tricks, the selling point is the control scheme. if ms release this motion controller they are working on, nintendo might have problems. or they wont have problems, but they'll release a new console, with better graphics (which the wii should have had from the start really - im thinking long term here) - in which case, a lot of consumers will be left in the lurch. imagine resi5 on the 360 with a motion controller. it'd have what set resi4 on the wii apart from the gamecube original, AND it'll have the 360's graphics. nintendo obviously can not do this with the wii.

The wii is for a different market aimed at different people, i know i know. but the potential has always been there for the 360 (or the ps3) to do everything the wii does and better. if that day comes, nintendo could find very quickly that people will start buying equivalent games for other consoles instead of the wii, rather than the situation we have now with the wii remaining in a separate field and neither having nor being any competition for the other two.

£39.99 for the Dual Shock 3

Don't you just wish Nintendo would stop innovating

Cheers.

I do wish they had more confidence in their product and put more money into it, like the wiimote and Wii power. They're far too cautious but that's why they smash MS and Sony gaming divisions for profits.

I own a PS3 & a Wii yet never play the Wii (yet I still have one). If this controller meets/exceeds expectation and 3rd party developers take it onboard even your average adult will buy into the console. Up to now Nintendo have aimed the Wii at the family market, but this could be a massive opportunity to up the anty.

Well E3 kind of sums it up really, Call Of Duty & Clone Wars looked great fun :) Also looking forward to Tiger Woods 09 which will be a serious golf game but an ideal opportunity to promote the enhanced controller.

Looks like both MS & Sony just don't understand what the market wants or needs this generation :(

I only use my wii when I have a lot of people around or to play brawl (lots). I too am hoping that this new device sparks a lot of new gaming ideas.

Their sales and profits are abysmal compared to nintendo, which means they read the market wrong.

not necessarily. Its not always about aiming for the biggest audience, Im under no illusions that both Sony and Microsoft want to maximize their profits but if neither aimed for hardcore gamers then what would we do? Thats a pretty large chunk of market that wouldn't be satisfied.

Maybe and I know this is going to sound very biased... but maybe Sony and MS are not trying to sell something which... I'm finding it hard to write this down lol.

The iPod/iPhone for instance. It's sold loads. There is no denying though that there are better MP3 players and mobiles out there. The Wii managed to appeal to people from the start and it's now riding that wave. I'm not trying to bash the Wii here, I bought one myself. But how many of the people who have bought a Wii use it on a regular basis? People try it, like it, buy it, then chances are (going by my experience and hearing from mates) they don't play it anymore.

nintendo are selling well. that doesnt mean its in the consumers best interests even if its what the consumer wants. nintendo made a lof of money off the back of the idea that the wii was half the price of the ps3 and 360, which it was. but really, it *should* have been even cheaper.

no it shouldn't of been cheaper, i bet weeks of time went into deciding on the price of the wii and by the sales they got it spot on, basic supply and demand

for the hardware that was inside, and the cost to produce it, yes it should have. what you are talking about is what the consumer was willing to pay, two different subjects and i already mentioned that:)

I understand where your counter points are coming from but MS, Sony and Nintendo will always be aiming to maximise profits, not always via the same method though.

As an aside I expected the wii to sell for £150 at launch, not £180, and expected it to be £120/£110 by now.

Same but its selling even more than when it was released so in their eyes they should do anything but lower the price.

I am really looking forward to the Wave Race style game and sword fencing, i only hope the frisbee game isn't included.
