Wii on Component

It depends on the screen and the quality of it's inputs. I've got a big SD CRT so I'm not expecting much difference between composite and component. Component is just surprisingly good on my 36" tosh. We shall see.

when i bought my wii today i could have bought a cable as well but didn't as i didnt think there was much of a difference, now i see them screenshots up there ^^

argh

slap me :(

Just a pointer, i'd say somethings wrong if you don't see an improvement using component over composite. If your using an lcd Monitor then your quality's going to be crap anyway, an LCD Tv due to the scaler/engine in it should have a marked improvement. Alsp make sure you actually change the setting to 480p in the menu.

Im using a HDTV, and composite looked fine.
Went to Component yesterday, changed the settings in the menus, and it looks no better imo.
The only difference i can see is more aliaising in games.

Some TVs do an excellent job of converting Composite, its not like the old days, you are already losing the scan lines and it's being upscaled, the Wii's resolution is not ideal for HDTVs anyway.

Those images on gamespot are way overrated, the colours certainly dont look washed out, I cant see how you can squeeze S-video and RGB inbetween those two comparisons.

Component looks loads better on my tele - the difference in colour and contrast is considerable. Zelda still looks slightly rough in places, but overal it's a very pretty game now, and far more 3 dimensional than the washed out and flat picture composite provided.

Unlucky, what TV is this?
my mates LIDL LCD is rubbish at everything apart from the xbox 360 (which has its own scaler anyway)

i can get a component cable here friday but not sure if it will be any good, its not the offical one and isnt made by mad cats

I have that on order too. Apparently its very good. Fingers crossed it delivers as well as the others available.

EDIT: Just realised they have pushed back my order for the third time. It's saying "Could be after 02/01/2007" now

Definately worth doing, once in 480p on our 32" lcd tv it was so much nicer all round :)

It would help if you say what Model it is "definately worth doing" on.

I would have done if i remembered - at work at the mo so can't check but *i think* it's by Fire International ... same people who do the exploder stuff for consoles, was £17 i believe :)
