Hi Guys,

I have heard a lot of talk about the component cable and the Wii, I don't have a Wii yet but hope to have one in the coming week, can anyone ho has a Wii and a Component cable confirm if the picture is a lot better with than with the composite, I know in theory it should be but are there any direct comparisons?
Cheers

Good luck getting one though - they seem to be like gold dust at the moment!

There's some unofficial ones due very soon which look far better made than the official ones.

Word of warning:

I've got the component, on a standard TV there's a big difference, definately looks sharper and more vibrant.

But if you're using it on a monitor, there's not that much of a difference to be honest. Wii:sports and Monkey Ball are definately sharper and more vibrant, but Red Steel, Zelda, Need For Speed don't really benefit from it.

Ok, finally had a chance to check out the link and not really seeing that much of a difference in the 2, maybe i missed it but did they mention if they were playing on a CRT/TFT/LCD/Plasma TV/Monitor?

I will be running it on a 37" HDTV so I plan on getting one of these cables anyway just so i can see for myself

Off topic - my Wii will be arriving on Monday but its an xmas gift from the wife so wont be able to play it for a week!! torture!!

I know what you're gonna be going through... had my son's since the 8th but my missus said there'd be no more hanky-spanky if she caught me playing it before xmas. Managed to test it out for a few mins to make sure it wasn't bust, but that's all I got.

lol why do women do this to us!! the wife has already told me that SHE will be testing it to make sure its working when i'm not there, so i don't even get a chance to see it in action till the day

My RGB cable turned up today, makes a huge difference even in the home menu. Much more virbant in game in sports and Zelda looks so much better.

Little tip, if you have download updates when in standby option enabled, it always thinks it's on so won't swap AV channels when it's turned on and off.

I didnt find the difference as big as people make out.
I found that the composite gives a very good picture anyway, and all component has done is remove the slight blurryness in the game, which in all honesty, wasnt that noticable, and arguable better looking.
But thats just me. :)

yeah i think i might agree with you there, i got my component cable yeasterday, and although the game looks better, its not that big a deal really, the slight blurryness did add something as well?

Wow that makes a world of difference!
I dont know how they did those comparison shots, but i honestly didnt see that amount of difference in the switch over for me.

Are you sure you are hovering the mouse long enough for the 2nd image to load - I made that mistake at first :p

The images are all a lot sharper and in some the colours are a lot more vibrant.

I will defo be getting hold of one of these cables once i've got a Wii !
