WII out performs PS3 in US

I've just come back from the USA where there was a news item on the popularity of the Wii V's the PS3 in the USA.

It would appear that the Wii is in fact proving more popular for a number of reasons:

a) The lack of availability of the PS3 is driving people to purchase a Wii (or a 360) rather than go through the hassle of waiting for new stock.

b) The controller is proving a big hit with the kids, and a lot of adults, and they are enjoying the feel of being truly in the game.

c) The price of the PS3 compared to the price of the Wii and the 360.

Could Sony be dropping to third place in this round of the console wars???

really though how could Sony compete they had next to no machines compared to the Wii luanch, which I may add was the model of a good luanch plenty of product and more to come

a. so what, that isn't going to stop sony selling to all the hardcore fanboys it's got world wide.

b. it's a gimmick tbh.

c. the wiii is a hell of a lot cheaper, that is taken for granted, but it is an overclocked gamecube with an engine for a gimmicky controller

. When you compare the top of the range 360 (+ hd drive) to the ps3, the ps3 is cheaper.

Well not really as A implies that they are buying a wii instead whereas I'd wager the majority are not buying anything and are waiting for more PS3's

The wii's doing well but lets not jump the gun theirs enough nintendo fans around the world to flog 3-4 million wii's no problem but will they still be flogging them next christmas and the christmas after like the DS is doing atm? Thats the big question.

Yeah who cares who's winning, every man and his dog knows that once the PS3 is in full swing its going to take the lead by a huge, huge margin and trounce everything in the sales, the capability has nothing to do with it, its the name PLAYSTATION, thats what will win it the name alone, the PS1 was huge, the PS2 was huge, the PS3 could be utter crap, but no one cares as its called a PLAYSTATION, as long as its called that it will wipe everything out.

should have named the psp playstation2 handheld or something equally as easy for idiots to understand

the amount of people who say "whats a psp" is unbelieveable lol

thats obviously why it hasnt sold , nothing to do with the crap games

And I don't there are many kids who are allowed to have 425 quid presents in the middle of summer.

Agreed, when the PS3 comes out here its gona be totally new and everyones gona want it, it doesn't matter that its been out in Jap/States for eons, fact is its gona make the 360 look ancient when it comes out (only in life), everyones gona think its a whole lot newer because of the delay in release over here, where in fact its not.

Spot on.

I like the look of the playability of the Wii. I suppose if someone came up with a PC version of the handsets and some decent games i would buy that for £50 instead of £180 for a whole new system.... it better happen soon thought cause the Wii looks great fun!
