I think Nintendo will make big bucks from the Wii, Ive seen some early specs that suggest the Wii is basically an overclocked gamecube with the fancy controllers. The fact the same Zelda game will release on gamecube and the Wii enforces these specs as being true.
For Sony, some games will just sell their consoles, like MGS4 and the new GT, and the new final fantasy lets not forget about that, the japanese will buy the console just to play final fantasy.
My friend is a Sony fanboy and he cannot help but put Nintendo down at anything they do. I think there are just some people out there so hooked up around Sony that they cant imagine something else being better or more fun to play.
The Console scene isnt really a war anymore. Back in the days of the Snes and megadrive, you had a feeling that there was competition. That was back when consoles had one purpose - to play games for fun. But just now there really isnt any competition, Nintendo are solely focused of making fun games, Sony are solely focused on being THE home entertainment system, and Microsoft are too I guess. Whats the point though when only one of them has enough balls to take massive risks, risks like naming their console Wii and making a totally new way to control games as the consoles main control method?
And it is a risk, it could have been a total flop like the super vboy or whatever it was called that nintendo made and released (the one where you look into goggles and games are in red to make them come off the screen). I remember when Sega used to take such risk back in the day of the megadrive, with the megaCD and then the mega 32x (or whatever it was called), risks in innovation are needed to propel gaming forward, to bring back competition between companies.
All I saw at E3 was a ridiculous copy of Nintendo's innovation by Sony (which was unneccessary imo), with the loss of controller feedback rumble. And then 2 versions of the PS3, one which is heavily handicapped compared to the other, another very poor idea.
Basically I expected more thought from the leader of the console 'war', Sony.
