Wild CPU usage

I use Dragon Centre I find it quite helpful, doubt it's that never had a problem with it. I have mine on turbo mostly, but I changed it to Sport and I can't change the settings at the bottom right of start but when I look at power options it's in high performance and I don't get 100% CPU.

It's going to sound like beating on a dead horse, but I still think it may be Superfetch causing the problem, especially since you were unable to eliminate it as the cause of the 100% cpu last time since it all went belly up. Is this the latest version of Windows? Windows 10 1803?

For reference (if it is Superfetch being the issue), I have a 4930k at 4.3ghz, with 64GB ram (32GB RAMdrive), and SSD storage (1 main, 1 program), and when I ran something "modern" (Mass Effect Andromeda) it would shoot the CPU to max whilst Superfetch tried to "cache" everything into memory. Once it was turned off, there is a slightly high CPU usage (but not 100%) for a short period of time only (1-3s max). Unlike before where it would stay at 100% for a fairly lengthy period of time (minutes at a time, sometimes longer).

Coming from another Msi gl62 6qf I’ve never had problems either and one of the main reasons why I picked it over other laptops, but this dragon centre s a lot more updated so it’s not the same one. I have the problem that soons you click turbo it goes to high performance then 100%
Today I will uninstall all th Msi software one by one and try in between and if I still get the problem I’ll try superfetch again. Going to keep dragon centre to the end though just incase as it’s handy,
Yeah windows updated itself the other day.

Also it’s not when I open anything it’s an instant jump and whatever I seem to be doing at the time is what is using the usage, if that helps any

No not yet mate.
The last couple days I’ve removed the bloatware one by one testing usage in between.
Now the only thing I have on my laptop is dragon centre, office, photoshop, steam and games.
Seems to be when I go to sport in DC it goes to performance mode in power options then 100% cpu.
I’ve tried to stop and disable superfetch in services, open power options and change to high performance and left for 5 mins in which it stayed at 100% the whole time till I put It back to balanced.

Question,
If cpu usage is at 100% should it no get hot? Then in turn make the fans whirl faster? I have it set to advanced so the hotter it gets the faster they go. That doesn’t happen. The laptop seems to sit quiet and cool enough.

Once I’m home on Monday I’ll uninstall DC then see how that goes, don’t want to do it now as I won’t get it back on with download speeds of 40kb/s

At 100% you'd expect it to burn your left if you had laptop on your lap, so if not something dodgy going on.

Just sits at 100% doesn’t get hot and doesn’t heat up
What is the task that takes it to 100% though? is it that dragon rubbish?
I would bin it right now and use the windows profiles to do power management.

Just depends it shifts back and fore if I open a program then that’s where the usage goes,

I’ll uninstall DC tonight see how I get on, failing that, I could do a fresh install? Just filled my HD up with games though, does the pc refresh keep your stuff if it’s all on the second HD?

Before I uninstall DC. What about cooling? What will my fans be like?
There set to go faster as my gpu and cpu get hotter?
Will it just do it auto Or will It be stuck on low? Stuck on fast?
Any other softwares I can use? Justwith being a 1070 I guess it’ll need proper cooling.

Ok deleted DC still doesn’t help sorry for quality was more for speed but took a few snaps one on balanced everything look fine, high performance cpu max.
Will my laptop be fine gaming on balanced

Then if I click balanced it goes back to the first picture.

Is that a cpu eater? I only stuck it on as I got a years licence with the laptop. Had AVG on my old laptop

I dont know but at the moment its likely going to be trial and error until you find the problem.
I take it windows is now fully up to date and on version 1803 + updates as are all drivers.

Ok so I’ve uninstalled bullguard, still the problem is here. I’m fully up to date graphics card driver and windows 1803.

I have windows on my ssd and all my other things on the second HD will windows fresh start only effect the ssd?

I’ve only had it for a month and bullguard was the first thing I put on it, then it’s just been sitting downloading games off steam for a couple weeks. No harm trying malwarebytes I suppose. Pretty close to just doing a fresh start see how that goes

Just an update, I’m home from offshore today and I should be receiving a new HD I bought for my laptop so I’m going to install that and do a full fresh install see where that takes me
