Wildstar New MMO (NCSoft and Carbine Studios)

Wildstar is a sci-fi/fantasy hybrid MMO of "high adventure" where players "lay claim to a mysterious planet on the edge of known space" by playing as Explorers, Soldiers, Scientists, or Settlers.

Through a feature known as "Momentum Mechanics," players can immerse themselves in a world that actually responds to choices made throughout the game. "Depending on a combination of faction, race, class and path," a press release states, "WildStar will present gamers with unending surprises, mini-quests and challenges, ensuring that their experiences are fun and fresh."

Not going to lie, i'm very underwhelmed by the information and screenshots. But the day is still young.

i don't think this one will kick off , they should concentrate on guildwars 2 and lineage 3 .

I quite like the art direction on it, looks fresh. Reminds me of Torchlight.

Far too much derpin' in this thread, you can't say something is a WoW Clone based purely from screenshots and a ingame video showing environments only.

MMO Genre is ruined by people that jump the gun.

No, the MMO Genre is ruined by developers who are insistent on following the WoW model so they can cash in while it's still relatively profitable.

Well I for one have played so many mmo's it's not even funny, and not once have I actually come across a game that feels exactly like WoW.

We're not saying it's a wow clone, we're complaining that they've copied the art style pixel for pixel.

No but everything else is copying the rubbish graphics to try and attract WoW players. It doesnt work, it never has worked and it never will work because WoW fans will keep on playing WoW, and people not playing WoW dont want to play a WoW clone.

How stupidly daft these kind of 'ZOMG lets copy WoW and make moneyz' developers are.

Also you have to admit that the number of WoW / Typical MMO clones drastically increased following WoW's success, with so many developers trying to cash in on a small niche market that WoW has already dominated.

NCsoft are the publishers like EA / Activision. Carbine Studios are the developers of Wildstar, and Arenanet are the developers of Guild Wars 2.

I'm not sure who makes Linage, but the announcement of this game doesnt really affect other games that are published by the same company.

liked the CG trailer, would prefer a movie more than an MMO tbh.

wont be trying this though, think my days with MMOs have come to an end.

It has some interesting twists on the usual MMO features.

It makes me a little more optimistic for the game, but overall i feel its aimed towards the younger generation of MMO players.
