Wildstar New MMO (NCSoft and Carbine Studios)

Does it kick you when you are afk for too long? If not just log on early in the morning and leave it running until you get home :p

This reminds me of AION, not the game itself, but people afk'ing in-game so they don't have to queue when they get home.

/sigh

Well thanks for the warning, guess I'll try and sell my account while it still has almost a month of game time left lol.

Stupid Playstation mechanics have no place in a PC MMORPG >.>

Did you not watch any of the pre-release stuff? They made quite a big deal about the combat system so I am surprised you missed it.

They made a mistake with only launched with 1 PvP server, but I'd say the amount they have now is about right. Queues are inevitable at an MMO launch.

I don't get it, it should not matter if there's one server or five, there are instances and the more people that play requires more hardware, why split up the community? Slap in a new server blade but connected to one realm, so that you have the biggest possible community for a single EU-PVP realm :/.

Other games do this, they understand that having everyone on one roof but in instances is the best way.

They have instances in this game. I don't know how many the servers hold but they've repeatedly said they're bigger than normal MMO servers but smaller than the single mega server ones.

Queues are annoying, very annoying when your only bit of game time in the weekend is held up by a hour long queue followed by a 'crash' - don't alt ab out folks :(

But, I would rather queues now then empty servers in a months time..

Just put the game in fullscreen borderless and you can freely peruse forums whilst the game runs in the background. Also, once you login and are in a queue if you quit the client (or it crashes) reloading it puts you back in the queue position you left.

I'm only level 13 but this game puts the fun back into MMo's, love it.

why the **** would you buy a game you know nothing about?

Cos it looked cool and the is nothing left to do with WoW/D3 until their next expansions. I bought WoW, Aion, Rift, GW2, etc, without knowing everything about them as I figured they would be fun to play.

You are aware it is pretty much a slightly varied mechanic of 'don't stand in the fire'?

Yup but it's the variance that makes it ****, why make people double tap like a Playstation game instead of just giving them the time to move out normally.

No need to rage quit over some mechanics that involve skill and actually mean you have an option to take damage or not.

If they was anything remotely skilful about it I would think it was cool but the isn't, instead of holding a direction until your clear of the void zone graphic* you just double tap the direction to jump straight out, if anything it's less skilful than the normal way.

*I'm not a big fan of void zone graphics in the first place as players should be smart enough not to stand in front of a mob casting a cone attack or near a mob casting an AOE)

**EDIT**

This story is happy end :)

Turns out you can bind a mouse button to autododge in the direction your moving completely negating the double tap system, that fixes everything :D

The problem with your argument is your just plain wrong. :)

First thing you need to do is disable double tap, go into "Combat Options" and disable double tap immediately. Then go into your key-binds and bind "Directional Dash" to some easy to use key (Probably the same key you used for Guild Wars 2 roll).

Because dash is a recharging resource it's actually a more difficult system then just holding a button like WoW. In tough fights your left with a decision about when to dash, which abilities you can dodge just with running and which you NEED to dash to avoid.

This and the fact telegraphs project on the floor actually allows Carbine to put in much more difficult content then WoW's because boss abilities are much more visual and because you have a quick speed dash to utilize.

Either way we all know your type, there will be no convincing you, to you it's just a "Playstation mechanic".

Well because it actually involves resource management and adds a slightly higher tier of difficulty to move out of the fire.

How does it autododge if you need to bind it to a button?

If you had read the entire post you could have saved some time ;)

Virtually all the classes in wow have a sprint/dash/leap/roll/etc CD that you have to choose when to utilize.

It's actually easier from a game play perspective, it's just it makes it more tedious/clunky/less fluid.

It was added to WoW almost two years ago.

How does it autododge if you need to bind it to a button?

Because you press it and it dodges in the direction your moving instead of having to specify the direction like with double tapping.

Meh teaches me for not reading edits. Glad you got it sorted. I will say one negative about the system, double tap should be disabled by default or not even be an option.

Allowing new players to start the game with double-tap and no knowledge of disabling it puts them at a disadvantage later in the game as difficulty increases.
