Dashboard - sounds like bad luck. Perhaps worth a call to Audi customer service to see if they can offer some goodwill.

Engine problem - tell them to bloody well diagnose the problem properly. Just replacing all the bits that the computer flags up is a waste of money. I had a similar problem with VW when my Bora kept cutting out. The computer told them to replace about £800 of bits. Told the dealer to pull their finger out and get a senior member of staff to look at it and the cost dropped to £120 when it was properly diagnosed as the crank position sensor. No wonder the Lambda sensors etc were triggering a fault if the timing was out and it was chucking petrol into the exhaust...

Of all the VAG brands Skoda have the best customer service. I can't fault them in five years...

£2500 less than the equivalent Polo and you get a better built car with better customer service.

The car isn't fit for purpose, you could take them to the small claims court and win easily I would have thought. You shouldn't be landed with a bill like this and have to pay it.

This won't stack up as he's had the car for 15 months not 15 days!

Also what is a licensed Audi dealer? Is it Audi dealer or not!?

Do they sell new Audi's?

I'll be honest, the Main dealers at Audi are truly shocking. I take my car to an Audi Specialist in Weybridge when I don't know what the problem is myself. They've been very good with the niggling issues I've had. I'll echo the comments of others by saying get a second opinion at a specialist and not a main dealer. It certainly can't harm an already expensive-looking issue.

I think the problem with modern cars is that they are not build to last as long. There are just too many small electronic items that can go wrong and each time it can easily cost you hundreds of pounds to fix.

Also garages charge £20-£30 p/h labor costs which imo is just unacceptable but there is very little option that you have.

i pay roughly £35 an hour at my toyota specialist but its pretty basic stuff. i give him the parts and the diagrams i printed from the internet. he fits it all for me.

main dealers are the worth cost wise

maybe time to take our car warranty cover on your car and get it fixed via warranty? i dont know what the legal position is on that.

be careful most exclude valve seats!

£20-30 p/h. That is incredibly low, have we miss-interpreted what you have posted?

Lets break this down..infact lets not, £20-30 per HOUR to use up a bay in the garage, pay the staff, all of the bills..

I'd almost be suspicious of anybody charging as little as this.

If he is a specialist why do you need to give him diagrams?

because the corolla t sport is a rare model...and the 2zz engine is only used on the corolla T sport and celica t sport, both are quite uncommon.

he is a toyota specialist, not a toyota performance specialist, so whilst he is familiar with the engine and its common issues he doesnt always have the indepth info nor is he technically advanced enough to have access to TSBs etc.

Are you sure that you are not confusing a garage which "knows toyotas mate" with a true specialist?

The Mercedes specialist i use for example, has all of the exact same resources that a main mercedes dealer has. Including electronic schematics of every single car including ultra lolz AMG models, the lot. They also have full diagnostics equipment for all modules of all cars. If they asked me to show them a picture of how to work on a car they specialise in i would be rather turned off them!
