Will Nvidia Ever Support Freesync ?

I think this explains it quite well and testers found G-Sync better....

One test is never going to be conclusive tbh. This could easily swap around using 2 completely different monitors. Most review sites have the technology being comparable. Anyhow i was replying to a post that said G-Sync was far superior which even that article suggests not as far superior would have next to no people liking the freesync monitor.

For now i will give G-Sync the edge but it has been on the market longer and i expect Freesync to improve with time. I hope this is the case because almost 100% my next monitor will be freesync due to my 290 which will be with me a while. Nvidia usually offer me little in the value for money side which is my main concern when buying so for me it's a monitor to go with the 290 and my next upgrade.

The test had its flaws even they say this in the end notes.. We also taking Freesync IPS vs TN two different freesync ranges.

For it to be called you would need more tests done and also test done on the best freesync monitors and BenQ XL2730Z is the go to monitor.
It would have been nice if they re-did the test using these ROG and BenQ TN displays.
 
Cant someone clever just hack nvidia drivers like some groups do their own tweaks on drivers sometimes or used to and enable freesync on nvidia cards? Or a 3rd party tool someone can link to the driver or card in someway and make it work that way.
 
Like I said it is an utterly **** test, you can't compare 2 monitors with completely different sync ranges, 35-90 VS 30-144, of course the gsync will feel better in that case, their reasoning was stupid as well, because they wanted the gamers to experience IPS, this test isn't about the panel type etc. it is about the sync tech, so they should have compared the swift and the benq.

And yes I actually remember Gibbo saying that about the 100hz and acer screen, although still, some people can't get over the 75hz without frame skipping and iirc everyone who uses the 100hz mode has a buzzing/coil whine noise......

Freesync uses the open standard of display port, The only hardware you need is a GPU and drivers that enable the use of it unlike Nvidia's which does actually need extra hardware to support G-Sync i.e the module inside the monitor.

Nvidia already support AS in their gaming laptops that have G-Sync but no actual G-Sync module as it's using the DP standard.

There desktop cards lack the hardware that is needed to use A-Sync just like Amds older hardware. Amd cards have the hardware on board for A-Sync while Nvidia need to add a module to the monitor to make G-Sync possible.
 
I can't see it for a while which is a shame as i'm not moving to either until one wins out.

I don't want my GPU choice to be dictated by my monitor.

Fortunately your GPU choice wont be dictated by your monitor.

Nvidia GPUs work on both Gsync and Freesync monitors, and the same applies for AMD GPU's.

Honest, no word of a lie there.
 
I wouldn't buy into either because I still prefer to play on my CRT with most details turned down (Iiyama VM Pro 451) :)

Sure they work but they don't get you the full benefit of the display. For example having used Freesync and just how good it is and am sure Gsync is also just has good. I wouldn't like to do without it...

So yes I would now base my GPU on tech that I could use. Ok say I wanted to switch to Nvidia but also want to keep using Adaptive-sync I would now need to also buy a Gsync display we shouldn't after do this.
AMD can't support Gsync but Nvidia can support Adaptive-sync... Just for the end users I feel this should be the way forward.

They don't currently have the ability to support A-Sync via their hardware, so they went with the modules and because of this, they had the tech out a good year before AMD had Freesync. That's not to say future cards won't have the ability but as it stands now, they can't do A-Sync via hardware.

Yeah I understand this. am just think in the future I would like them to support it.

Yikes, Move into the 21st century dude, Work mate of had one and he was amazed by the picture quality he was missing out on when he tried a modern screen.

I did but I went back to the CRT, as the IQ on my BenQ 2411XT was utter garbage, not to mention other annoying factors (not that it mattered). I prefer to play with most details turned off in FPS games anyway, O and at 800x600/1028x768 :)
