So you can use X-Fi drivers with an Audigy 2? Can't remember where you got them from can you, are they just the standard ones from creative? Thanks :)

They are just the standard X-FI drivers, there was a thread on this subject here a while ago, on how to install them on other Creative sound cards apart from the X-FI. :)

they finally arived at 6pm,, and god they sound amazing when you tweak all the settings and get it sounding right

I have the sub volume set at default, and its not too boomy or weak, I guess cos my floor is concrete it wont sound as loud as if it was on floorboards or upstairs? But it sounds very boomy when you get on the floor. I havent had much air comming out of the side port yet, So I cant be pushing it much.

it shound actually be louder withthe concrete floor, i find that my bedroom upstairs takes a lot of the energy out of my subs, even though they are still....well, very loud lol.

As for air, it largly depends on the size and tuning of the port, as well as the frequencies being played. But simply, play some low stuff and turn it up. that'll get it moving. One of the lowest tracks i know of, even if you dont like it, is Childhood dreams by Nelly Furtado. If you wanna see a sub wobble, just play that track;) none of that bass test or techno crap.

I Thought it was about time to see what the 680's could do,, cos they have been playing at normal vol levels for about 2weeks now so they should be ok to be cranked up once in a while now

so today I tested them out, by turning the windows volume and then the pod volume up every few mins, and I got the windows vol on full and pod on about 3/4 up until mum came in and told me to turn it down :D I was playing "Queen - Live At Wembley Stadium '86" and god its loud, mum said you must have been able to hear it down the road :D ouch my ears hurt.

people say that when its loud the amp gets hot,,, yeah my amp got quite warm but not hot at all. My ears are still hurting and got a headache too :D

I moved my z680 speakers into a smaller this room this weekend, and suddenly noticed the hiss, I tried various things to remove it, right down to just having the center speaker attached with no inputs attached and all other electrical devices turned off but the hiss was still noticable, and could be heard upto 2-3ft away. I called logitech who went through a few things with me (which I had already tried) then issue'd me with an RMA number, I called the supplier with the RMA details and they have despatched a new set to me and arranged for the others to be collected.

Great service, I just hope the new ones dont suffer from hissing, I guess I'll have to live with it if they do.

Logitech should have just sent you another control pod, I have version v1.1.2, If you have a older virsion you will have the hissing problem. To check what version you have. turn off the speakers, then hold the input and settings buttons down both together for 5secs, then it will show you the veirsion of the pod..

I think logitech will send you the new version of the control pod anyway, if you have the old version, if you ask nicely. :p

EDIT : Oh yeah, they might not cos they dont make the z680s anymore.

I was hoping they would just replace the control center tbh as it will be a pain getting them all packed up for exchange. Still, thanks for the information on testing the version, I was looking around for that information late last night but couldnt find it. Will check later tonight to see, I've only had them six weeks so I would be very suprised if its the old version but I guess I'll have to see.

Make sure the the plug is screwed up nice and tight from the pod into the sub,, even take the plug out and put it back in again might solve the hissing. I get a slight hum from the sub if i get down to the sub.. But all my speakers are about a meter away from me, and cant hear any hissing

The only time when I hear hissing, is when turn the windows vol to max and have the pod about half vol, when im not listerning to anything. But thats todo with the sound card, cos when I turn the volume down in windows, the hissing goes

My control center is v1.1.2, I moved them into the other room and double checked all the connections but the hissing is still there regardless of what or is any input is selected and even if the mute is selected. Hopefully the replacements will be better, tbh if all speakers were a metre or over away I probably wouldnt hear it myself which is probably why i didnt hear it in the other room.

I guess the movement of your speakers could have caused the hissing problem, cos some peoples z680 do develop the hissing sound for no reason at all later down the line. If not I really dont think a new system will be much better Im sorry to say. Your bound to have slight hissing/humming cos of the power going though.

I've just had my speakers turned on without the pc on, and I can hear the hissing.. It dosent bother me cos cant hear any hissing when pc is on cos of the fans, and when the speakers are doing something you cant hear it anyway.

Are you sure v1.1.2 is the latest control center version? I wonder if the last few suppliers selling these are getting rid of the older version? Quite a few people say theirs has no hissing at all.

The old version is v1.0.3, and apparntly the hissing is really bad, but with v1.1.2 you still get hissing but its not as bad as the v1.0.3 version, or thats what i've heard on other forums. Yeah some people are lucky and get no hissing at all. EDIT: Or the speakers might still be hissing but they cant hear it cos of the fans on there pc.

A quick fix for you, just turn them off when there not being used.. cos last night I connected my personal stereo up to them without my pc turned on so I could see if you could hear the hissing when there being used,, and you cant hear the hissing at any volume as long as your using them.. But like I say my fans on my pc drown out the hissing completly, so its not a issue for me.
