am after a new card am looking to play bf3 on high 2 ultra so will this card be fine

I don't think it will manage ultra with a decent, playable frame rate. I'm not so sure about 'high'. This also depends on whether you intend to use AA or not, and at what resolution.

My mate has a 4870x2, just about manages 30-40fps on high/mid/even low on one - think terrain detail.

6950 minimum id say for Ultra. The 560ti are a good price on here atm of you like your NV.

Yup 6950's clocked will be OK but to be honest as most people know 580 or 6970/6990 would be better but this is obviously out of budget.

Even the 6850 would be very playable with some mid/some high settings

EDIT: to give a comparason my old 5750 was giving me 30ish at mid / high

Do you need to buy now? If you can wait the 7000 series should be realeased *soon* which hopefully (but not garanteed) to drive some of the prices down - also giving more time to save up..?

You might not like my suggestion, but have you cleaned it recently? I saw an almost unbelievable drop in temps when I cleaned out my old 4870X2. As mentioned, waiting for the 7000 series would give you more time to save up some extra money.

I really would aim for a 6950 or 560ti if you can.

BTW what CPU do you have? My old (Athlon II 250) bottlenecked the 6950(s) like crazy

i cleaned it pal and it dropped a bit but still it reaches 110

Erm.... really hate to say this then but to get the performance you seem to be looking for a whole new system could be on the cards!

I actually had better/smoother performance with the 5750 and the AII 250 (@3.6) than i had with the 6950 on the same CPU the bottleneck was so bad!

Took the plunge, built form the ground up. The old PC is now a WHS2011.

If you only got a budget of £150 then I don't think this can beaten for the price.
