Will USA attack Iran eventually?

lol, they honestly dont care... really, they dont. they didnt "ask" if they could bomb iraq in the 80`s, they went ahead and did it, everyone condemned them for doing it including the USA, and the world in hindsight was a safer place for them doing it.

You missed the point about Iraqi airspace.

What makes you think that?

they've done it before with iraq, they bought 500 bunker busters from the USA for a reason and f-16s are perfect for the job, they will most likely have f-15 escorts.

The US had to suposedly pay the Israeli,s a large sum to stop them launching a huge strike on Iraq in the first gulf war after various Scud attacks ,I believe they had virtually everything that could carry a bomb airborne.. The US did not want the other Arab nations to side with Iraq at that point.

So personally I think it would be the US who would attack Iran under the guise of peace /freedom (yeah right) etc rather than Israel !

Bombing a single above ground reactor thats a few 100 miles from your border over airspace that is distinctly unthreatening nearly 30 years ago isnt too relevant when we're talking about traversing over a 1000 miles in order to attack hardened facilities lkocating in mountainouas country thats guarded by numerous modern SAM sites.....

You mean...they need to give themselves the go ahead!

You can take your  and I raise you one million  .

I was summarising the article as I already stated but the gist of the article was that before bombing Iran, Israel would seek 'acceptance' from America (maybe not officially).
Here read the article yourself....

There is no way that Israel would strike Iran with a NUCLEAR strike without informing the US. I'm not even sure if they would be able to launch a NUCLEAR strike without involvement from the US.

If i recall correctly it was the reasoning behind deplying Patriot ABM batteries....which subsequently turned out to be nearly useless....

Answering the OP’s question…

I would have thought a ground invasion of Iran would be out of the question. It’s a large, populous country with some pretty serious terrain (ideal for those nasty insurgents to hide in). They are better equipped than the Iraqi’s and they’d be far more motivated to fight as well. I also doubt that the American public would support another war, which would have to be very much larger and far more costly in terms of dollars, and lives, than Iraq.

To get stuck in to where the thread’s headed off to now…

With regards to that BBC article mentioning Israel pondering air strikes, even chucking tactical nuclear warheads at Iran – Has the world gone mad?!

And even if they did start bombing, what happens next? If the powers that be in Tel Aviv think they’ve had it bad with suicide bombers and the like, what’s going to happen if they start launching air strikes at Iran?

The world today is shall we say a very different place from 1981. Back then nobody gave a monkeys about Iraq, or the Middle East in general, no one. If it did it today Israel would become even more unpopular with the West than it already is, and can they afford that? And even in America, things would surely get a bit iffy for them. Any strike would have to fly over American controlled airspace and regardless of how it was spun by the White House, this would implicate Uncle Sam.

To the OP - I think there is a reasonable chance the US might launch a tactical strike at the nuclear facilities of Iran. Either air strike cruise missile or both.

I don't see how they could mount a ground attack on Iran at the moment. The US generals have been pretty candid about the chances of a succesful assault on Iran while they have so many assets tied up in afghanistan and Iraq.

What they have done is built a lot of pretty permanent bases in Iraq. These would provide a near perfect spring board into Iran at a later date. So yes I think it highly likely there could be a future invasion of Iran. In fact I would find it highly likely that the main reason that Iran is funding and training so many of the insurgents in Iraq currently is so that it can buy the time to develop nuclear weapons to form a deterent for use against the US.

Isreal might, but it would be suicide for them to. End of IMO.
