Will We Start Seeing 1080 Prices Getting Sensible Again Soon..?

After checking out nowinstock I've seen a LOAD of stock for the vast majority of cards going out (the majority of them were blue 'Pre-order' and now are white 'Out Of Stock' labels) it's looking like whatever component shortage/manufacturing problems that the 1080 has suffered from since the 1080 'launched' is over.

I don't for a second believe that the state of the quid is the only reason for these ridiculous price hikes because the 1080 has also seen increases in the States.

So will we see the prices coming down soon now that there's about to be plenty more stock available..?

Very unlikely. Its mostly the £ to $ behind this and so long as the £ is down it will continue. Its unlikely the £ will do anything but continue to fall unless the political or economic conditions change substantially (like Brexit is cancelled). If the predictions are right expect to see sub $1.20 to the £ by the end of the year and maybe parity in the 2-3 years. The prices now will only get worse.

Thanks to brexiters prices will liekly only go up. There are some pretty tired predictions but there, $1.2 to the GBP looks likely.

Best bet is we get a new Prime minister who refuses to sign Article 50.

Yep if the pound reaches parity with the dollar, you an thank the 52% for the 52% rise in GPUs. The Tories won't cancel Brexit, they'd rather be in power and see the country ruined.

Current 1080 pricing with cards in stock holding multiple units:

Palit GeForce GTX 1080 Jetstream 8192MB GDDR5X PCI-Express Graphics Card £589.99 10+ In Stock

Palit GeForce GTX 1080 "Founders Edition" 8192MB GDDR5X PCI-Express Graphics Card £599.99 10+ In Stock

Inno3d GeForce GTX 1080 HerculeZ Twin X2 8192MB GDDR5X PCI-Express Graphics Card £599.99 10+ In Stock

Palit GeForce GTX 1080 GameRock 8192MB GDDR5X PCI-Express Graphics Card £608.99 10+ In Stock

It's as simple as this, if they have plenty of stock available the prices will trickle closer to release prices to shift them. Absolutely zilch stock on OcUK for EVGA FTW, Hybrid, Classified, SC ACX 3.0, MSI Gaming X or Z, Gigabyte Xtreme etc. These brands usually have the most popular aftermarket cards.

In a few months when supply starts to meet demand and pretty much all cards are freely available in the OcUK warehouse showing 10+ stock for all models you should not see a Gaming X at £700.

It is the main reason they have gone up. OCUK buy most of the models in dollars from their suppliers. If the exchange rate goes down, they cost OCUK more to buy from their suppliers and therefore cost us more to buy from OCUK.

Plus ocuk and other etailers are hedging too. Say they buy a card today at x dollars to the pound and that meant they make their profit at £640. They dont pay for the cards for another 30 days and the trend at the moment is for the exchange to drop up to another 10%.

If they dont put another 10% now, when they come to settle the bill, they may have made a loss.

My predictions is that once stock lands in quantities some time in August, the pound will be $1.20 to the pound and a Flounders will be £730 and AIB cards will be slightly less to slightly more.

Take the FTW which started of at £600 (I think). A 20% change in exchange rate will mean this becomes £720.

I can see the MSI sea hawk hitting £999 soon.

brexit or not they wont change the prices.

think of it this way, if you where selling somethings and people would buy them at the ridiculous price you first put out would you go and reduce that price?
