Will you be ditching your 980 TI\TX for Pascal?

Nah my 980Ti will stay for at least 2 more iterations.

When I make the 1440p or 4k jump then I'll upgrade the GPU.

At some point they won't give you a choice, Once they have Pascal out with decent Async capabilities they'll suddenly be more than eager to push game dev's to use it forcing us to move up or get left behind in the performance stakes. As we often see with Kepler today Maxwell will soon be the stunted tribe we are being pushed into replacing.
And so it begins.....

It might not even take Async to do that...Nvidia just need to "carelessly" forget about optimising driver performance for the Maxwell and older cards for new titles for 6 months after they launched the new 70/80 card, like how they "carelessly" forgotten to look after older gen cards users when they launched the 970/980 :p

if there is a £500-550 pascal Ti that can offer 50% more performance then I might consider it.
The next Ti being at least 50% faster than the 980Ti is very likely, but the question is WHEN will it be released? Nvidia will probably release the mid-range 70/80 Pascal and sell at high price of £300~£480 first, and then after a while they will probably released the big Pascal in the form of a new Titan pricing at around £1K, and then another 3-6 months before big Pascal Ti is released.

So realistically speaking, we are likely not going to see the mainstream big Pascal at least 6-9 months after the new 70/80 are launched.

When you say "carelessly" do you mean "focus on their latest range" ? :D. I think that's pretty normal for any company to be honest. Their latest current products on the market get the main attention/optimisations to help stay ahead of the competition. Isn't there an old generic saying along the lines of "you're only as good as your current xxxx" (where xxxx can be a product or service) - nobody cares about last gen/end of line products.

Only reason to maintain older products really is to help with brand loyalty but getting the balance right probably doesn't require much effort - most prefer to upgrade anyway, and look for an excuse to do so :). I've convinced myself that DX12 won't be done properly by any company until the next gen - there's a good enough reason to upgrade right there. Current cards are DX11. Some are "Direct X 12 ready" which reminds me of "HD Ready" - not quite HD and never will be.

Possibly, purely as I may need DP 1.3 to test certain monitors. But before then I'll probably be buying a high-end Polaris part to go alongside the 980Ti (not at the exact same time of course).

If the performance rollback seen in games like Project cars and Fallout 4 become the norm I will look to offload mine maxwell a month or two before anything new hits the market. The 980ti is a beast of a card no doubt about it but gameworks worries me so I'll most likely go with AMD for the next gen of cards.

Actually that's a minority, It's only in places like this where it might be more than not but the majority of people want to buy a card that will be fine for years, especially one that costs hundreds of pounds.

Do explain, I've not noticed any performance drop in PC, in fact SLI performance is better than its ever been.

Possibly referring to the sort of results we've seen like with the Fallout 4 update patch beta?

But that is a beta patch so I imagine the official patch release will fix that particular problem.

Mind says no. I will be grabbing either the acer X34 or Rog equivalent depending on reviews and fully expect my current system will be fine with it. Next jump will be for cards which come with dp 1.4 I expect. But who knows if the upgrade bug will strike :p

Maybe, but advancing game technology and graphics means an upgrade is probably on the cards every 2 years or so if you want to play the latest games well. No amount of driver improvements will overcome that after a few years the hardware is obsolete.

Yup, if that's the case I'll get two. Although I'm really interested in big Polaris this time round. Although AMD slacking on drivers again ( TombRaider 2016 ), I'm not too sure if I'll go with them now.
