Will you be ditching your 980 TI\TX for Pascal?

$699 for the founders edition 1080 sounds like they'll be be pretty scarce, and the normal price of $599 might indicate a 2nd mainstream release date. Either way I can't see pricing in the UK being much less than £500.

After seeing that the 1080 is faster than 2 x 980's in SLI I'm sold :p

Wish they would have released a little bit more info about the founders edition, Is it just binned chips, Better power delivery, Better cooler ?

If it is the latter 2 then it wouldn't make sense to make it a limited run IMO.

I'll definitely be looking at how my 980ti handles itself in upcoming benchmarks, and how the 1080 does in dx12 titles. I think the crunch point will be how both cards do in bf1. On another note NV cards tend to hold their 2nd hand price much better than AMD, so as long as you don't sell on the MM I think it'll still be possible to get a decent-ish price (I hope) for a ti. Esp onw with an ASIC of 85% (like mine)

Pretty sure the GTX 1080 is going to be about 20-25% faster than the GTX 980 Ti(unless the comparisons were run on an oveclocked version). Definitely selling my GTX 980 Ti, but I might just get a polaris10 to hold me over until the GTX 1080 Ti or Vega cards are released.

Well looks like I am some what hypocritical, said I would wait but second Titan X sold for £660 after fees yday!, first for £895 in cash so no fees! and third one would have for £750 after fees, but guy clocked on I think with pascal released so is an unpaid item sigh.

Either way made £780 on first two which is no too bad as I paid £829 brand new, so more performance from the 1080 hopefully and pocket some cash (unless its crazy expensive). Third one now will likely be hard to sell :o

all i saw said was yeh power delivery and that new cooler no one wants
if it has better power delivery does that not make it custom and not reference!?
i duno maybe 8pack will give us some non bs info when they come out he will be looking for good ones!? :)

I'll wait for the 1080ti version. Current 980ti will do me fine till then.

Me too. The 780 Ti and 980 Ti were released over half a year after the lower tier cards, and the 1080 Ti will probably be no different. The 980 Ti will still last a while.

Me too, I'm not falling for the hype...I'll put my Poseidon under water and clock it.

I'm not spending 500 on a mid range card...The upgrade needs to feel worth it on my X34...

I'll wait for real benchies aswell. None of us know what the clocking headroom is for 1080 and the 980 ti just doesn't become slow overnight..

:p

Absolutely not, the Ti will be with me until at least next year when 8GB HBM cards start showing up. Looking at the games I'm likely to play in the next year (Dark Souls 3, Witcher 3 DLC's, GTA V) my Ti will handle them all with aplomb at 1440p.

not yet. I am more than happy with my 980ti for now. I might consider upgrading a few months after they release a 1080ti.

I've had my 980 for a year and half. Definitely will grab a 1080. When the 1080ti drops I can always sell the 1080 so no biggy. If I had a 980ti I'm not sure what I'd do but seeing the price plummet on the 980ti 2nd hand already I may have sold it. Like now.

I'm lucky I have multiple gaming set ups so I pass down the line my older cards.

A Ti is likely a year away. I'll most likely pick up 2 1080's to replace my Ti's. But only if they are a worthy upgrade. 30-40% at least. Anything under 20% then I'll just wait for the Ti versions.

True benches of a maxed out 1080 vs maxed out Ti is what I want to see.

I'm planning on getting 2x 1080 to SLI a new build I'm planning, partly because I anticipate that the TI varient wont be launched for a year. I hope I'm not wrong!

I'll be holding on to my 980ti until Vega/big Pascal, these cards, unless we see some upcoming stunning benchmarks aren't worth it especially considering nvidia will have shown them in best case scenario.

Exactly. Benchmarks first.
