Will you be ditching your 980 TI\TX for Pascal?

Will be keep ing my 980tis for a long time to come me thinks. 3440x1440 with these cards seems perfectly acceptable to me.

I must get out of the habit of upgrading just because of new shiny :)

Anyone find it odd that both the 1080 and 1070 will have slower memory speeds than the 980ti? Will this effect real world performance? Of course we'll find out when benchmarking begins but I would have thought the 1080 would have HBM2 and 1070 GDDR5X...

It would make no sense to have 2 memory controllers on a single 330mm2 chip

Not upgrading my SLI 980Ti setup.

Looking at prices right now, selling in the next few days might get £375 or so at on that auction site, £400 if you're lucky (prices will likely drop heavily over the coming days as we get closer to the end of the NDA period). So take the earlier price, Factor in shipping at £15, auction fees at £40, PayPal fees on top at £13.80, that's roughly £320 per card. You sell here you'll get even less, even without there being fees.

Let's say £550 for a 1080 when they are actually released. £1100 in total to replace my SLI setup. Is the performance upgrade worth £400-500? I don't think anybody can reasonably justify that.

At the end of the day, you'll always take a significant hit. It comes down to sooner or later. My setup is more than adequate for the next couple of years, so I'd get more for my money waiting for a "1080Ti" or "1180".

Yeah of course. If anyone wanted to upgrade they should have sold their cards before GTX 1080 was announced. I was lucky to sell my Titan X for £710 last month. That was the time to sell Titan X/980 Ti cards. Right now it wouldn't go for over £400 without even considering the fees & shipping.

Not worth it unless you're "upgrading" to 1070 which I suppose will be much better than 980 Ti and Titan X for VR, and about the same for everything else.

Anyone know if the NZXT G10 would work on the GTX 1080?
Also is there a backplated on the 'FE' cards? Would hope so for that increased price.

Founders Edition cards have backplates.

G10 will probably work, but better wait for confirmation. NZXT usually releases that info immediately after a card hits the market so you won't have to wait that long.

With how high the clocks are on my 980Ti, I'm going to wait to see what the 1080Ti can do before considering upgrading. I'm due a whole system refresh around Jan/Feb 2017 anyway, so should be about the right time.

Well i got a guy coming in a few hours willing to pay me £360 for my 980ti. Considering ive had it for year now and still get a return of 60% im pretty happy about that. Normally 2nd hand goes for max 50% even if its only a few months in here denmark. Hopefully i dont have to wait forever for Polaris this time(im not looking for a performance upgrade)

Is that in Euros? I only bought my 980ti for £400 sold my 970 for £200 so cost me £200 to upgrade so im happy with that till the 1080ti comes out i think :)

I'm looking to do that, go from 970 to 980Ti.....but I don't know if I should wait and get a 1070. Are 1070's likely to be slower than the 980Ti?

I'd say you did very well there

be interesting to see how the market goes on these

I think 1070 will be more of the market driver on 2nd hand prices of 980/980Ti than the 1080 - which will be a premium product still

if the 1070 was to be within 10% either way of a 980 Ti in performance, but at 320 and much lower power ... then how much would you pay for a 980 Ti ?

I normally put my GPUs in the garage as a spare

pity my 570 SOC is still sat there un-used lol - my 290 has been too reliable obviously

Well the dude has been here and im 360 pounds richer. Funny part is i now run on an old Radeon 5850 with my tripple slot MK-26 cooler cause the reference was broken. Works fine without any issues and i can still play Overwatch at 60+ fps at native 2560x1440 which baffles me greatly though the image do look a bit unsharp. But im in no rush and will be looking forward to polaris/pascal benchmarks.
