It will be a great shame if the weather is unkind to all those participants and the crowds watching.
Surely they won't mind catching pneumonia for their king? Then off down the foodbank for a tin of beans to help celebrate the glorious day. Cold of course, since they can't afford to turn the cooker on.

I would suggest the only way this weekend on the forum will go harmoniously is if there are are two threads. "Post here to share your positivity on the coronation occasion".

And "Post here to share your negativity on the coronation occasion".

Any posts transgressing these rules sees a 3 day ban.

(Send cheques to my accountant Manny Cohen, as usual please mods....) Cash also welcome of course ;)
Tbh, I suspect you don't really give a **** about the coronation.

Be careful out there on Saturday guys.

MPs warned of a potential Coronation security threat today after it emerged Chinese-made CCTV cameras banned in government departments will be 'spying' on the crowds.

Thirty-eight of the devices by Hikvision, which has worked closely with China's military, have been specially erected along the parade route stretching from Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square.

The cameras can capture 'up to five faces at the same time' and offer 'human and vehicle targets classification based on deep learning,' according to the manufacturer's brochure.

It prompted fears information harvested from the thousands flocking to watch the Coronation parade in central London on Saturday will be passed back to Beijing.

Hikvision is banned by the US Government from all federal agencies, and Oliver Dowden, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, last November ordered all British ministries to remove Hikvision cameras because of security concerns.

They could at least make the bunting out of string and paper instead of plastic which is just a waste to the envrionment, ironic as well considering how proactive Charlie is in regards to environmental issues

Went for a little spin on my motorcycle and quite a few villages around here have the bunting up but no so much in our village.

I'm not fussed in the slightest Mrs and next door neighbour are watching it on TV, I could think of a million other ways to spend my day.

As I have said previously, I am not a great fan of Charles, and of course that's a wild thing to say as I can only judge him from the media. (He's not been in my infamous pub, at least in so far as I know, I suspect it might have been mentioned... ;))

But a lot of people quite understandably get seriously into this history in the making, doing no harm to anyone, showing their patriotism with no violence or trouble. I hope they enjoy this historic occasion and that the weather and all else is kind to them in their various endeavours for the very short period it lasts, outside the history books.

Personally I think the rumoured 100 million pounds it will cost could have found much better uses elsewhere to benefit people but that could just be me.

Bunting's probably made in China though. :p

I do indeed take your point and have mentioned this very thing in this thread a while back. But the cheap bunting is unlike all the exotic special uniforms worn for this occasion, all made entirely in the UK, by a family comapny that harks back many generations.

Lots of bunting up around here now. Didn't know I lived amongst so many sycophants.

The closets have emptied for the weekend They do say the English are distanced from their neighbours, and unlikely to know much if anything about them. Now might be a good time to say hello, or whatever breaks the ice. :)

We have been invited for tea and cakes on Sunday at 4pm. Not at the palace but at a neighbours house around the corner from where we live.

A Mrs. Bucket soiree or a good honest down to earth do? I guess you'll find out. Not sure the wife would be too keen me going less than an hour after getting back from the pub, far too much chance of me putting both feet in it :) Have fun.

why did they choose start of May as opposed to UK summertime - was there a constitutional imperative ?
despite Queens coronation being june it was apparently 7-8C (much colder) and it rained.

With hidden microphones to listen in on everyone
AI can probably lip read - jean hackman needed that.

e: people can wear Meghan masks or the V vendetta ones to avoid identification
