Wasn't this also why the Queen didn't attend some ceremony with Charles (I think his wedding to Camilla) as she is also a divorcee?

The Church of England's official position is that it discourages divorce so she must have felt that she had to maintain some distance from their wedding. The CoE would obviously prefer it if their leader was not a divorcee, but the breaking of his marriage vow is a more serious issue from a moral/religious perspective.

Huh forgot that he is an adulterer, how can he possibly lead the Anglican Church as a result and thus be King?

A double-whammy* of institutional rot, but then again that seems to be what defines Britain today so maybe it's best to let it play out.

*triple if we include the religious aspect.

Do you think the lack of bunting in towns is down to today's elections? No bunting where I live, as elections. But the shops, esp the local charity shops have impressive displays.

Oh, stand by your first thoughts Tony.

"Might give us a bit of a view of what god thinks about two divorcies getting married and one of them being the head of the church now."

Don't hold back on the view from the St.Edwards' pulpit :)

No its because of Rishi Sunak.

Historian David Starkey has caused alarm after claiming that prime minister Rishi Sunak is “not fully grounded in our culture” in the UK.

Speaking to GB News on Thursday morning as part of the channel’s coronation coverage, Starkey somehow managed to take aim at the PM, the country’s first leader of colour.

The concerning remark came after host Andrew Pierce said: “The prime minister now has been, in my mind, detached or at least semi-detached, from this coronation.”

Sat outside Buckingham Palace, Starkey said: “Invisible. And I think one of the reasons that I think a lot has gone wrong, for example, why parliament has not been properly represented at the coronation of a parliamentary monarchy, is because the government isn’t interested in the constitution.”

Although GB News deleted the tweet sharing Starkey’s remarks within an hour, it did not slip under Twitter’s radar – and people were quick to call out the historian.

I would suggest the only way this weekend on the forum will go harmoniously is if there are are two threads. "Post here to share your positivity on the coronation occasion".

And "Post here to share your negativity on the coronation occasion".

Any posts transgressing these rules sees a 3 day ban.

(Send cheques to my accountant Manny Cohen, as usual please mods....) Cash also welcome of course ;)

Or we could have one thread and simply suspend all of the usual troublemakers until Tuesday ;) *ahem*

Surely this thread would be pretty lifeless as all the loyal subjects will be too busy lining the streets to celebrate their new royal overlord in person to worry about posting on here? :p
