Why did Murray and lendl part company? Seems strange because Murray won the olympics, Wimbledon and the US open witb lendl as coach

One explanation I've heard is that they wanted to end the partnership on a high - at that point they'd done what they'd teamed up to do. Another issue was that Lendl has a number of other commitments and couldn't/wouldn't give up the necessary time to go along with Murray's schedule.

(Un)Fortunately I couldn't watch the match today but from the sounds of it Murray just had a shocker of a game. It shouldn't really be happening to him at this level but he also came up against a player in good form so now the count can start again since the last British man to win Wimbledon...

Dimitrov's finally coming of age. He's been talked about for the last few years as one of the players destined for the very very top but he's always fallen short. Having won Queens and performed so well this week it looks like he's now coming good.

Be interested to know that as well.

Of the last 39 Grand Slams, only these have not been won by Murray, Fed, Nadal or Djoko:

2005 Australian Open
2009 US Open
2014 Australian Open

Collectively they have amassed $234m of prize money

EDIT - I say it all the time but watch out for Mrs Federer's hands, they're massive!

Who won the 2005 Aussie Open? Can't for the life of me remember. Wasn't Soderling?

I know the 09 US was Del Potro and 14 Aussie Open was Wawrinka but that one is bugging me :(

wikipedia to the rescue. it was marat safin.

as for soderling, you're probably thinking of when he knocked nadal out of the french in 2009 but roger won it overall.

i thought that was soderling's only claim to fame which is why i mentioned it. having looked deeper, soderling did play at the aus open in 2005 but retired in the first round. :p

He is likely to be 10th in the ATP rankings, mini lol. This hasn't been a great season though (recently) winning two Grand Slams and Olympic gold is hard to follow for a Brit.

enjoying this first match so far. in the first game, i was expecting the worst after seeing kvitova hit a few thumping winners to break serve but safarova broke back and it's now 5-5. it's a decent contest. :)

edit: bugger, kvitova pinches the first set in the tie break. :(

Kvitova has been inconsistent since her peak 3-4 years ago. The true final is Halep vs. Bouchard.. If these two girls keep it up, we'll be seeing a lot of their matches in the final rounds in years to come.
