Wimbledon starts on Monday and the big story during the build up to this years event has been their ban of Russian and Belarusian players as well as the decision of the ATP and WTA to strip the tournament of ranking points. Some of the big names missing are Medvedev, Rublev, Khachanov, Sabalenka and Azarekna. Zverev's also missing, after snapping in half during the French, as is Little Miss Drama Queen who may or may not have an achilles injury.

Djokovic and Swiatek are unsurprisingly the top seeds and favourites for the second slam running and Serena returns after an entire year out. Murray's also back after skipping the French although there are doubts about his fitness after he picked up an injury during his final loss in Stuttgart to Berrettini.

No Federer in this year's Wimbledon?
Not back until September at the earliest.

Is any bookie taking bets on Raducanu to collapse like a sack of spuds by the second set?
Highly likely to happen, she's clearly not learnt to take time off when injured and it sounds like she's rushing back. She should sack off the grass court season and get herself fit for the hard court season.

Tennis is in the doldrums for top talent at the moment. When are the next big names going to break through. I've looked at both the men's and women's odds and it's a little hard to get excited about Wimbledon this year but we'll see.

Popped over to Wimbledon Park yesterday, looked like a mini festival was on (tents, people in the sun, food vans and all sorts). Didn't realise it was essentially people queuing up for tickets, a good crack.

Anyone but Novax please.

Tennis is has taken a hit since Fed basically retired, once Rafa joins him it’s going to take a complete nose dive.
Yeah anyone but Novak!

Emma seems to tentatively be doing okay so far.

Have to admit that I feel a bit guilty wondering when she will inevitably have to pull out again due to an injury.

I really hope she doesn't though.

Only just started watching but she seems to have taken a noticeable amount of power off her ground strokes in favour of better placement. Not sure if that's nerves, coaching or an attempt to keep her body in one piece.

Hurhacz out in 5 sets.

Edit: Drop shot seems to be the key, Raducanu looks hesitant every time she has to move forward.

Van Uytvanck is a decent but not great grass court player. It was a routine win for Emma today. No surprised. Remember she got to the 4th round last year without issue, where she withdrew.

Her next opponent is Caroline Garcia though, who's been ranked at high as 4th in the world (2018) before, and recently won a tournament on grass against
Bianca Andreescu who I like as an up and coming talent despite being 22.

Kwon played well to take a set of Novak. In fact he was on fire. Djockovic looked disinterested for a couple of games, but in the end it was never in doubt.

More of a surprise is Hurkacz being beaten by Davidovich Fokina.

Alcaraz is currently having a very tough time against Struff. Could go either way. Will be an upset if he gets knocked out.
